Advantages: Guitar virtuosity at its best Disadvantages: A bit short
...to Golgotha, where Jesus was crucified. Fits very well with the song title and gives us a nice break from the flurry of notes that surrounds it.
‘Circles’ starts off rather slow and boring but at around the minute mark it takes off into a blitzkrieg of high notes and drum rolls before going back to the original melody with a minute left. Apart from the middle section this is song isn’t that great.
‘Lords of Karma’ begins with Joe playing what sounds like a sitar and a steady riff underneath. This song takes a while to grow on you. It has a nice middle section with a cool bass line but the sitars don’t really do anything for me. Mysteriously sounding song with a good outro.
‘Midnight’ begins with some quiet but very fast picked arpeggios before going into a section that sounds very urgent as if it’s leading to something big. Sadly, it doesn...

Advantages: The Heaviest band on earth. Disadvantages: may be too much for some people.
..., this track is just one rollercoaster into doom. Beginning with a chugging riff, weird tales launches straight into electric frost, the beginning suite of this 3 part saga.
The riff is repeated and repeated, drumming endless rhythms into your brain, every so often the slightest thing is changed in the riff, making you appreciate electric wizards brilliance and mastery of their chosen genre.
Electric frost moves into Golgotha with dreadful ease, the riff just stops and moves into a slow psychedelic journey of disturbed riffing and endless chugging bass. Distorted, discordant guitars rip a solo though the midsection of the song as bass and drums keep the endless pounding of the riff driven straight into your brain.
Golgotha subsides into a soundscape filled with sliding guitars and eerie psychedelic
Overtones send you into a subdued, fazed out...

Advantages: Dark, brooding, captures the varied tones of the film perfectly Disadvantages: one or two tracks that are either weaker or seem out of place
...to critique an album because it's a lot more thorough, and easier to read :)
The Cure - Burn
Being the strongest track on the album, it had to be the opener, as well as the defining theme of the movie. It's no surprise then that this track was specially written for the film, and captures the brooding tone of the protagonist perfectly.
Machines of Loving Grace - Golgotha Tenement Blues
Dark, menacing and seedy - Scott Benzel's gravelly, sneering vocals give an atmosphere of imminent danger. Good if you'd like more subdued industrialism, or a softer version of Nine Inch Nails.
Stone Temple Pilots - Big Empty
Sort of a classic here, but not my favourite; this probably ties with For Love Not Lisa's contribution for the album's most listenable track. Something you can sing along to, but seems a little too Nickleback-ish to be on such a dark...
