When I heard that Nelly and Kelly were teaming up for a follow-up song to Dilemma, I was ecstatic, though skeptical. 'Dilemma', in my opinion, was such a good song, and trying to replicate it or make it better would be almost impossible. I think this is the first problem surrounding the song - the hype. This was built up for months, and marketed as a song that would be equally as good, if not better than the first, which obviously built up the expectations of fans. There are only a few similarities between the songs - the scenario remains the same, the smooth flow of the beat and lyrics, and there are one or two references made to the original.

Another issue is that this was released almost 10 years after 'Dilemma', when both artists have established their solo careers and are in different places. Part of the magic of Dilemma was that it was Kelly's first solo project without the Destiny's Child ladies, and Nelly's first proper foray into a smooth R&B style tune. 'Gone' therefore attaches itself to different connotations.

Despite this, the song is pretty catchy, with a simplistic melody and lyrics. As usual, Nelly and Kelly's vocals flow well together, and their chemistry is evident. Regardless of how it compares, it was nice to see them together again. However, I think that if this song stood alone or wasn't marketed as 'Dilemma Part 2', it would have perhaps been more successful, because when taken out of context I think it isn't too bad. I just don't think it works as a sequel.
