Advantages: Unique example of early nineties Pop Disadvantages: Not enough of it!
.... For some reason, whenever I hear this song I think of Duran Duran, although its not really their style, I imagine they could have done a really cool rocked punked up version of this. The lyrics are about a freindship crumbling because of one not telling the truth or selfishness, its about these issues and how they contribute to ending a relationship, the person in the song is asking his lover to "change for the better" and see an end to this "decadence."
If love were all
If love were all is very different to the usual style of the pet shop boys. Its got a classical edge to it, and is quite slow reminiscient of the fourties or fifties! Similiar to a big band style, and reminds me slightly of Frank Sinatras work. Its simply about love, and the idea that the more you love a man the more you give him and trust him, but the greater you have...

Advantages: A brand new sound to an increasing overcrouded genre Disadvantages: Some tracks take a few listenings to get used to - and you may not like them at all!
...Dubbed as one of the best singer/songwriters in 2005, Joseph Arthur actually has been in the business of making tremendous music and giving astounding live performances since 1997 (at least). 2 - Can't Exist - This could easily be the best track on the album. It's memorable and has all the features of a "best...

At these times, the music was all dance music and focused on female vocals over a new-age Electronica beat, but as males began to dominate the scene with the likes of So Solid Crew, Heartless Crew, and the More Fire Crew, Garage then declined and became the UK equivalent to Gangsta rap in the US. A short time after the release of this album saw this new form of Garage be named Grime, due to its grimey beats and hardcore raps, and this was the pioneering album release in this genre.
