Not being a lover of R & B type music, I surprised myself when I purchased this album, with Umberella being one of my favourite songs of 2007, and her coming up trumps and releasing another couple of great tracks from the album more recently, including Please Don't Stop the Music. This is the track that prompted me into making the purchase.
Rihanna, born in Barbados, at the young age of 19 she had become and international superstar in which she deserves without a shadow of a doubt. Having a couple of number one hits from the album, Good Girl Gone Bad including Umberella which stayed at number one for 11 weeks during 2007. The unique lyrics to the track, a little bit different from other artists and the great video that accompanied the track, managed to earn her the Video of the Year and Monster Single of the Year at the MTV Television Awards.
Although she is still very young, her vocals are fantastic, you can tell she is young as she sings a little like in a childs voice in some of her tracks, however produces some great material on the album, from the R&B that she renoun for, pop songs with great funky beats and a variety of ballads that are all music to the ears.
Good Girl Gone Bad is Rihanna's third album, I hadn't really listened to much of her music until she released Umberlla last year, which instantly took my liking. Its a flawless album, no weak tracks and one of the first in my R&B collection of album's, and may also be the last.
Hate That I Love You has got to be one of my favourites from the album, a ballad is which she sings so sweetly. The lyrics are fabulous and you can associate yourself with this track when you are in love, and some goes wrong and you hate yourself for how much you actually love that person.
The one song that I don't actually like on the album is Rehab, purely because of the nature of the track and I feel that everyone is trying to get in on this rehab act and think its some sort of trend that famous people have to go through. I am not sure whether this track is related to personal experience or whether she just wanted to cash in on the trend.
