Advantages: yet another stunning album from the icelandic band Disadvantages: It ends?
...This band will not give up making beautiful music.
Sigur ros are a group from Iceland. A band that create wonderful creative and incredibly original music. For the past albums Sigur ros sung in 2 languages, Icelandic and Hopelandic, the latter being one that they made up. However, for this album, apparently they've dropped Hopelandic to sing in their native. Singer guitarist Jonsi, still however hasn't dropped playing his guitar with a cello bow, which is a good thing!
The band themselves are a 4 piece, but usually have a host of other people playing with them, one of which has gone on to make The Album Leaf, one incredible band that also deserves checking out.
Ba ba Ti Ki Di Do, the ep they released between the last album and this saw a slight differ in terms of sigur ros. It moved away from being more guitar based...

Advantages: Beautiful Disadvantages: A few weak tracks
...ironically; pointing out that just because Sigur Ros don't sing with computerised American vocals, it doesn't mean that their music is gobbledygook. The band have opened with a contagious melodic song that will appeal to die-hard fans as well as a much wider audience. 5/5
2. Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur - 4:05
Again, this song is much livelier than tracks on previous releases, with on-beat drums and striking piano chords. The track is layered much thicker than the album's opener; with brass and string ensembles crafted especially for old Sigur Ros fans that loved albums such as the 2005 release "Takk…" This song is a must-have for your feel-good summer compilation CD or playlist. 4/5
3. Góðan Daginn - 5:15
This track is absolutely sublime; with smooth cascading guitar strums and atmospheric percussion and vocal sections...

Advantages: A fanatstic debut album, possible the best the band have made to date Disadvantages: They have moved away from the ideals they set on this album
...While this years World Cup seen Embrace release a very mellow football track that failed to capture the imagination it also coincided with their 5th studio album. Over the years the band seem to have transformed from a up-tempo Indie band into a band who specialise in ballad's and slower numbers. It was on this, 1998's The Good Will Out, that Embrace really made a name for themselves. At the time they were being touted as Noel Gallagher's favourite band and a decent debut album would really set them up.
The 5 piece from Brighouse in West Yorkshire seemed to appear from nowhere and take the charts by storm. The debut was released by the Geffen record label and as a result it seemed to have a much faster pace than the following efforts. The McNamara brothers had teamed up with a few mates and set about recording this in follow up...
