band, but on their fourth album, Good Charlotte--led by twin brothers Joel (lead vocals) and Benji (lead guitar) Madden--fall much more under the umbrella of 1970s arena rock and mainstream ballads. There is the occasional foray into the pop-punk mode of previous records, including the distorted-vocal rap "Keep Your Hands Off My Girl" and "Broken Hearts Parade," which sounds like Green Day with horns. It's easy to see the maturation in the Maddens' songwriting on such tracks as "The River," a surveillance of the inner workings of Los Angeles, the grass-is-greener pop song "Something Else," and "Where Would We Be," a break-up ballad about Joel Madden's split with pop princess Hilary Duff. With a piano lead and strident chorus, Madden admits, "Now I must confess that I'm a sinking ship/And I'm anchored by the weight of my heart." Browbeaten in theory, like sister songs "Misery," "Victim of Love," and "Break Her Heart," Good Morning Revival offers hints of optimism that grow with the record and reach the summit with the closing pop song, "March On." The harmonic chorus jubilantly declares, "Like soldiers we can make it through the night/We'll see the sun/March on." Whether punkers or mainstream rockers, it's apparent that Good Charlotte will continue the march. --Scott Holter

Advantages: A couple of decent tracks Disadvantages: For the most part the album is deeply disappointing
...in Waldorf, Maryland in 1996, Good Charlotte are an American Pop Punk band who have to date released four studio albums. 'Good Morning Revival' is the bands most recent album and was released in the UK on the 19th of March 2007. The album was extremely well received, and in August 2007 the band went on tour with Justin Timberlake as the opening act for his FutureSex/LoveShow tour. Good Charlotte have had some strong success over the last five years ... ...When I first saw Good Charlotte on music television five years back with their video for 'Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous', I found their Pop Heavy 'Punk' song somewhat laughable and extremely irritating. To me they seemed extremely manufactured, and therefore seeing them screwing their noses up at the lives and attitudes of the famous seemed more than a little bit silly. As the band released more and more material, my hatred for the band blossomed. ...

...of fashion on latest album Good Morning Revival.
For that reason alone there's the temptation to simply fob off …Revival as further expansion of Good Charlotte's 2004 clunker Chronicles Of Life & Death, but once you take the time to look past the kind of lyrical deficiencies that plague the likes of 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl' and 'All Black', you start to realise that maybe Good Morning Revival could simply be a case of Joel and Benji having ... ...simply a case of Good Charlotte doing what they've always done - brilliantly constructed mass-appeal pop-rock with an angsty edge - and in the case of Revival, they do it as well as ever. If anything, Revival expands on the bands previous efforts, with the likes of 'Victims Of Love' and 'Dance Floor Anthem' fusing late 80's synths aside chugging guitar lines, whilst the effortless - yet ridiculous - 'All Black' bounds about with all the endless enthusiasm ...

Advantages: Better Lyrics Disadvantages: Similar to other bands
...previous girlfriends Joe!)) Any Good : Can this album compete with my chemical romance, fall out boy and p!atd? Were quite sure. Overall this new album i would personally rate a four out of five star as a whole. But hey see what you think. Good Charlotte have currently been running for five years and alot has changed. The standrd of the lyrics is a vast improvent from 2002! But they still carry on doing what they have always done giving theyre music ...

Advantages: GREAT ALBUM - EASY TO SING ALONG TO !!! Disadvantages: NONE
This album see's GOOD CHARLOTTE all grown up, gone are the more silly songs - but i like that ! This is a CD that you can put on full blast whilst in your car and sing along to unlike some bands you can actually understand what GC are singing.
The River featuring M Shadows has to be one of the best songs on the album, followed closely by Victims Of Love, Misery, Keep Your Hands Off My GIrl, basically all of them !! The only one song that i'd skip ... ...great.
This band like to sing about misery and not being happy but in a quite upbeat way, which makes a change from some bands where it's all DEATH, DEATH and a bit more DEATH !!! All in all well worth listening to, big thumbs up to the guys for a cracking album !!! ...

Additional notes
Album Notes: Fourth album from the brothers Madden sees them continuing to head in the 80s synthpop-inspired direction they explored on 2004's 'The Chronicles Of Life And Death'. This time, however, there is some more mature songwriting and a darker tone to the lyrics, suggesting the boys have grown up somewhat. Includes the single 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl' and an attempt to connect with the metal crowd with rawer, chunkier guitars and a guest appearance from members of Avenged Sevenfold on 'The River'.
