...is written and produced by Chic’s guitarist and bassist (Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards) and Chic’s female vocalists also lend a hand on some of the background vocals for this album. So, you would be right to expect Chic style funky baselines and guitar riffs from this album, but with the added bonus of the gospel-style vocals from the four sisters. This album was first released in 1979 and re-released with added remixes in 1995. Track 1. The Greatest Dancer. Will Smith sampled the guitar and bass line of this track on ‘getting jiggy wit it’ in 98. However, as they say ‘it’s never as good as the first time’ and Will Smith’s song was really appalling in comparison to this track. Disadvantages: does not include the original version of 'that's entertainment.' A real shame!

...'t use the alternative or demo versions a few years ago for their TV campaign - they used the original single version. Why it was decided to put this inferior version on the boxset I don't know. The original version of 'That's entertainment' can be found on the Jam boxset 'Direction, Reaction, Creation,' the original album 'sound effects' and the other singles compilation 'the very best of the Jam,' in case anybody is struggling to find it. CD 1 - 9/10 overall. Would be 10/10 if the original version of "That's entertainment" were present. CD 2 - The Style Council era. Fairly comprehensive, though it doesn't include 'Paris Match' the double A-side to 'Long hot summer', but every other hit released by the Council from 1983 - 1989 is present. ...State Human (Chamber's Reporduced Mix) Laughable. 7.The Things That Dreams Are Made Of (Jimmy 19 The A509 PWC Remix) Oh why? Ring my Bell, Anita Ward comes to mind. 8.The Sound Of The Crowd (Freaksblamredo) Okay, too many whistles and squeaks though, not unpleasant but not a hit either. 9.Open Your Heart (The Strand Remix) Another mix of this song, gawd knows why. 10.The Sound Of The Crowd (Riton Re-Rub) Alright, bit more edgy than the original. 11.Love Action (Fluk's Dub Action Remix) Another remix of a remix, oh dear. #####Final thoughts##### The 2nd disc, or 2nd half of downloads apart from the first one, are really not worth bothering with unless you are a diehard Human League fan, I'm not. In fact, that EMI/Virgin had the cheek to call the last 10 tracks 'The Very Best of' is almost a crime under the trade... Read review
