One of my favourite albums in my collection
Review of Blue Lines/Mezzanine - Massive Attack by gorvifal3

Advantages: Highly original good quality music
Disadvantages: Might be an acquired taste, might not appeal to some people

...with a happy and positive vibe. The track uses a piano, I understand this is one of Massive Attacks more popular songs. Inertia Creeps - Features a rap by 3D on his own. The sound track is very original and uses guitars and drums. Inertia creeps is expertly mixed and blended. Unfortunately I can't tell you what the lyrics are about because I am not sure. Exchange & (Exchange) - This song appears twice on the album, one version is purely instrumental without lyrics, the other contains lyrics by Horace Andy which I have included. (Exchange) is the last track on Mezzanine and is a great finish to the album. This track has a such a chilled style in both versions and I guess it is slightly like Jazz blended with modern sounds. "Our Day Will Come" performed by Isaac Hayes is sampled in Exchange. Instruments inclued a plucked Cello. Once again a highly... Read review

great British music
Review of Blue Lines - Massive Attack by justaman

Advantages: Original sound
Disadvantages: mostly downbeat

...Massive Attack are one of the most influential acts to emerge from the UK. This is mostly due to their ability to fuse many different elements of music from the various 'members' and come up with an original yet familiar sound. This was their debut album which takes on a more trip-hop/downbeat style than some of their later work. The sounds here are more organic than anything heard in later releases. For me this album really gives a feel of raw electronicly produced music, rather than the seemless crystal clear sound that most electronic music has nowadays. Not to say that the sound quality is poor - Massive Attack are true masters at sonic cohesion, blending synths, samples and vocals seemlessly. The vocal talent of Shara Nelson is truely displayed here as she wails soulfully in a masterful way. Horace Andy is also featured with his... Read review

Trip The Light Fantastic
Review of All Over The World (The Very Best Of The Electric Light Orchestra) - ELO by Mauri

Advantages: Great production and re-mastered sounds
Disadvantages: A few dud tracks

...ELO' might be better choices. For new fans this would be a good option as a reasonably comprehensive introduction to the band but the 1979 compilation 'The Best Of ELO' includes hits from their best period without some of the later duds. The one single advantage that this compilation has over the others is the prefect crystal clear sound of the re-mastered versions for the songs, the quality of the production is really brought to light and with a such complex music as that that ELO produce this is a real plus. So are secret ELO fans ready to come out of the closet? Is the band going to have a revival? I think they might, watch this space! 'All Over The World' can be bought from Play.com for £8.99 delivered. Thanks for reading and rating this review. © Mauri 2005... Read review
