compilation since records began, Groove Armada'sGoodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)has an awful lot to live up to.Vertigoreleased two years previously was a phenomenal success both critically and commercially spawning hits like "If Everybody Looked the Same" and the mighty "At the River". Having found their niche of downbeat anthems that amble along smoothly, Groove Armada are exploring their style further. The opening track "Suntoucher" is a slow-burning dub plate featuring Jeru The Damaja which breaks into a supercool horn riff, a fantastic start to the album but at six and a half minutes does drag on a bit. Even the slightly more up-tempo numbers like first single "Superstylin" or "Fogma" don't rush into anything too hectic, letting it build slowly before the bass hook and drums kick in with a lukewarm impact.Goodbye Countryis another triumph for Groove Armada in musical terms with every track as good as the one before, but with so little of the quirky house for which they are equally accomplished it seems a shame that they chose to veer so strongly in the relaxed, downbeat direction. --David Trueman

Advantages: Bass hooks and drum kicks set to destroy any soundsystem! Disadvantages: Majority of the album may be too slightly down-tempo for some people!

This album defintley got me hooked on Groove Armada. This album in particular, has very rarely left my cd player. It's perfect for any occasion. Following on from the critical acclaim of their previous album (Vertigo), Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) had an awful lot to live up to in my eyes. To me, Vertigo was a phenomenal success that offically launched GA into the music world. I absoloutely loved the Vertigo album, that included such hits as "If Everybody Looked the Same" and "At the River," and this album carried on their form.
The opening track, "Suntoucher," is a slow-building dub-style track, which breaks out a supercool horn riff midway through. It's a fantastic start to the album, but it does begin to feel a little long as the song unspools. Even the slightly more uptempo numbers, like "Superstylin'" (now an absolute clasic) and "Fogma," don't rush into anything, but build slowly before the bass hook and drums kick in with devastating effect on any soundsystem. Goodbye Country is another musical triumph for Groove Armada, with every track as good as the one before.
Soundboy Rock is the latest and 7th release for the Cambridge based duo, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay. Loosely described as electronic or funk, their genre has surpassed the hedonisitic, late 90's pop madness, and deposited them into the chill out category.
GrooveArmada were first recognised in 1997, their claim to fame being a limited single known as "At The River", a track that sampled "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page, and would slowly propel them towards wider acknowledgement from the British public.
The group tasted real success in 2000 when Fat Boy Slim sampled and re-mixed "I See You Baby", a track that would also later catch on, having been featured on the Renault adverts of that year.
The group's fourth album release was "GoodbyeCountry (HelloNightclub)" and as indicative as the name, suggested a departure from the more ...

I must admit that I`m not a big fan of dance music generally although I do own a few of the more classic albums. If you are a big dance fan then you probably already have a copy of this. I guess if you are like me and liked Moby?s ?Play? or anything by Morcheeba and/or Massive Attack then I think you would love this. As it is a few years old now and GrooveArmada recently released a new album called ?Goodbyecountry, HelloNightclub? so it can often be found in the sales. I paid only £6.99 and I consider it as a definite bargain.
