Standing on the platform at a train station and playing these songs suddenly lifts me from my foul-spirited mood and makes me want to sing and dance. Nearly every song on this album is cheerful, and they ... Read review

If you asked me what things truly make me happy, one of the answers I would give you is: The Barenaked Ladies! Their music just has something so upbeat and energetic about it, that it cheers me up instantly. One of my favourite albums is “Gordon”. Many times have I taken the CD with me to work. ♫ 1. Hello City ♫ This song starts with a piano and saxophone melody, which gives the track a very jazz-like feel to it. Then the accoustic guitar enters with a bit of bass. The melody is really upbeat, so upbeat, that it really gets me going on the way to the “City”. The way I see it, the song appears to be about always going to the same type of bars while on tour, getting drunk, ...

Advantages: Good Clean fun, with deep meaning lyrics Disadvantages: None
...of "Be My Yoko Ono," Gordon unfurled a brand a humor that many people brushed off as juvenile, and out of step with the times. The mix of clever lyrics, example ... ...'Drove downtown in the rain nine-thirty on a Tuesday night.
Just to check out the late-night record shop.
Call it impulsive, call it compulsive, call it insane;
but when I'm surrounded I just can't stop. The Ladies are a breath of fresh air, no swearing, no rudeness, no violence. They can make you think for ages about love, heart break and trips to HMV. This is the album to chill out to with it mellow jazz tones ('Hello City') to all out madness ...

Advantages: four decent songs, very decent! Disadvantages: eleven no so decent
Okay okay, before I go any further I’m gonna say from the minute I saw them live at T in the park three years ago, without knowing who they where, I have loved, nae worshipped the BareNaked Ladies music. With that said…. What de hell is this album all about? Disappointed I was and thank God I heard their newer stuff first or the band would never have discovered their biggest fan and I would never have discovered my ‘happy’
... ...going on in this album, nor that the lyrics are bad cause they’re far from it, and the tunes and melodies are, eh, fine. In amongst this album there is musical genius, some of their best work – but what is all the nonsense surrounding it? Seriously boys, what’s going on? Maybe it’s just in comparison to their newer stuff from ‘stunt’ and ‘maroon’ that’s caused me to doubt them – maybe if ...
