Advantages: Classic Album by a Canadian Indie Rock Supergroup Disadvantages: Not Enough Rousing Songs
...The new Pornographers are a very special band, made up of members of a few canadian indie groups. This, their third release, is easily my favourite album of 2005.
Not brash, striking, or glamorous, this record is barely an indie album, but with every listen the supreme sense of calm and cheerfulness. In a word, I'd describe the record as "Nice". It's nice in the way that a warm day on a pleasant beach is nice, or a summer evening, or being cuddled up next to the fire on a winters day. But don't get the wrong idea - this is not a downbeat record. Even when things slow down it is still bright and clear, with a casual vide that rocks you through the tracks like a boat on water.
The twin voices of Carl Newman (male lead vocals) and Neko case (Female lead vocals) intertwine perfectly and their harminies are close to perfect in the way...

...IT HAD BEEN A LONG WAIT FOR THE NEW PAPA ROACH ALBUM AND TO BE HONEST IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. PAPA ROACH RELEASED LOVEHATETRADGEDY LAST MONTH WHICH SHOWED A DIFFERENT SOUND TO EXPLOSIVE ALBUM INFEST. IT TOOK A FEW LISTENS BEFORE I WAS CONVINCED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THIS ALBUM.
Newly named Jacoby Chaddix along with the other members of Papa Roach produced their second album to satisfy thousands of adoring fans. There are a lot of people who don’t like Papa Roach or the Nu-Metal movement in general and heavily condemn it. All I say is, it brings a new kind of energy for people to be able to mosh too. As I have stated before, my first impressions of Papa Roach came through the explosive hit, Last Resort. It made me realise this band are trying to appeal to their audience and in Infest had tracks which may appeal to most...

Advantages: loud, brilliant, upbeat, pure genius perhaps Disadvantages: a little on the short side, if you dislike loud music chances are you won't like the Hives
...Okay - so the title is a little lame. But heck, I'm only the second person to write about 'Your New Favourite Band' and the title just seemed apt. I've bought several cd's of late, some old, some new, and of all of the cd's I have purchased, I find it is The Hives who are back in my cd player again and again.
When I first played the cd, my sister (she of no discernible musical taste) asked what that 'noise' was. When I responded, and quite enthusiastically I might add, that that 'noise' was my new favourite band, she simply gave me a withering look and asked if I could kindly keep it down, if not actually change the cd.
I probably could see my sister's point of view. Your New Favourite Band is definitely a very 'loud' album. Loud drums are a prominent feature, the vocalist does not so sing so much as shout and the pace...
