You will probably know of Simon Webbe as he was in the popular british boy band Blue, since they split up a couple of years ago he has gone solo and released two albums. He is the most successful solo member from Blue, and out of all four members he probably has the best voice. He has been compared to other artists such as Lighthouse Family and Seal; I can definitely see the comparisons with these artists as their music is similar. Grace is Simon's second album and is full of soulful pop songs.
Coming Around Again - This was the first single from the album, and is a catchy feel good song about how if you have troubles on your mind you should put them to one side and watch the good times come round again. This is definitely one of the stand out tracks on the album and a good choice for the first single.
Seventeen - I really like this song, it's one
of my favourites on the album, it's about what it was like to be seventeen and how he still feels like he is that age. It's a catchy song and would probably make a good single.
Sunshine (Love Like That) - This is another song that I quite like, although it's not one of the strongest on the album. It has nice lyrics, 'Like a shadow, you are my sunshine, you make me smile when the tide is running in high'.
Go To Sleep - I'm not really keen on this song, but there is a nice meaning behind it. It's meant to be like a lullaby and I think it's probably written for Simon's daughter, 'Go to sleep my little baby, your mama's gone away and your Daddy's gonna stay'.
Ain't True To Yourself - I really love this song, it has quite a gospel feel to it. Once the song gets to the chorus it gets really catchy. This song stands out on the album for me.
Don't Wanna Be That Man - This is probably one of my favourites on the album, it's very catchy and I reckon it would make a good single. I really like the melody of the song, it's quite relaxing.
Angel (My Life Began With You) - This isn't one of my favourites on the album, although it might be a grower. It's fairly upbeat and quite different to anything else on the album, but personally it doesn't have much of an impact on me.
Fool For You - This is another song that I really like, it's very soulful and the chorus is very catchy. It has a good beat to it. It's not one of the strongest on the album, but I still like it.
My Soul Pleads For You - This was the second single to be taken from the album, even though I really like it, I'm not sure it was the right choice for a single. It didn't do too well in the charts either. This song is a ballad and very different to any of Simon's previous stuff, his voice even sounds quite different - but I think it's because he is really singing with emotion. It definitely does stand out on the album for me, probably because it's very different - it shows that Simon is experimenting with his music styles, something that is very important, it would be boring if the songs were all samey.
That's The Way It Goes - I like this song, it's quite mellow and laid back, it's very easy to listen to, it has a nice rhythm. It's about how life doesn't always go the way you planned, 'Though I plan my great escape, looks like I'm back at where I started, the only thing I have is faith'.
Take Your Time - I like the beat to this song, it's very catchy. It's another feel good song, 'Seize the day, change your life, find all of your limits in the sky'. It's a good pop song.
Grace - Well Simon definitely saved the best til last!! I love this song and I was really pleased when I found out that this is the next single (It will be a double A side with a new song called 'Ride The Storm'). This is my favourite on the album and I know that it is apparently very popular with fans. It's very catchy and the chorus is great.
I really like this album, there are some really some great songs. Overall though I think I prefer his first album 'Sanctuary' as there were quite a lot of songs on that one that I loved. However I still recommend this album, it's very easy to listen to and you wont be disappointed if you like pop and soul music.
