Advantages: All your fave Tribe Tracks Disadvantages: None!
...from The Land Where Hip-Hop And Jazz Live.
After releasing four albums, A Tribe Called Quest finally decides to put an end to their legacy. However, with The Love Movement, they definitely ended it on a good note. As usual, Q-Tip is the lyrical fronteer, but Phife comes up with some good lyrics as well. Very nice production done by The Ummah. Also, the great single "Find A Way" has one of the jazzy, noble beats that made the Tribe famous on their previous albums. "Da Booty" has a cool up-tempo beat and Q-Tip and Phife go back and forth nicely. "Steppin' It Up" features Redman and Busta Rhymes, and is a crazy track, with a Cannonball Adderley sample. Every emcee rips the mic on this song, but Redman steals the show with a hilarious verse. Then you have more laid-back tunes like "Like It Like That", which has a slow guitar loop and Q...

Advantages: Tight, Old School Lyrics, Memorable Beats, Social Consciousness and Intellect, Groundbreaking Classic Disadvantages: Not everybody's cup of Tea
....
"The Chase Part 2" is braggadiocio again, but a bit better. The punchlines on this particular track, in my opinion, are a bit more memorable. Besides the fact that the Biz Markie sample and instrumental are excellent, of course the lyrics have to be dope. This track is a mix between having a low-down party vibe, to just a good driving song, with tight lyrics. Phife drops one opening verse, and Q-Tip then takes over for verses 2 and 3. Some of the memorable punchlines range from: "Me not deal wit no changaram, bangaram business, I got soul on a hymn, like Jehovah's got the witness", and "Movin with the grace, here we go, let's begin, Makin people jump out their goddamn skin, Lyrically, we bite like we Rin Tin Tin, Peace to Grand Pu and his many, many skins". The old style drum loop and saxophone are the same production that Tribe always uses...

Advantages: Grace, buckley, sensational voice and lyrics, an extra song Disadvantages: Not as good as the anniversary edition, little new appeal
...This expanded version of Grace has all the original Grace tracks and "Forget her". It was released 10 years after the original Grace was released, and is veiwed in negative light by Buckley fan's as it was basically put out after the far superiour legacy edition.
The opening track is Mojo pin a track co-written by Gary Lucas and Jeff Buckley from there "Songs to no-one 1991-1992" album (which I've reviewed on here). A song with only a lil change in the time from which it was originally written, and it keeps Buckleys' impressive vocals that go from slow soothingly amazing to chasing like a panther through the opening line of the chorus:
"Precious, precious silver and gold and pearls in oyster's flesh"
The song keeps the original lyrics that shoot images into your head right through, a great opening track to a very memorable album...
