Additional notes
Album Notes: Simon & Garfunkel: Paul Simon (vocals, guitar); Art Garfunkel (vocals). The soundtrack to Mike Nichols' 1967 masterpiece, THE GRADUATE, alternates between Paul Simon's songs and pieces of Dave Grusin's deliberately naff Swingin' Sixties score. All of the former, with the exception of "Mrs. Robinson" and a negligible solo acoustic guitar rendition of "Scarborough Fair/Canticle," are available on Simon and Garfunkel's earlier albums. Similar to Nelson Riddle's self-parodic work on Stanley Kubrick's LOLITA, Grusin's instrumentals have a satiric edge that comments on the film's action. On their own, especially to one unfamiliar with the film, they sound like deadpan parodies of the worst excesses of pseudo-hip Hollywood, especially the hilariously out-of-it "On the Strip," the background for the scene where Benjamin and Elaine make the Sunset Strip freak scene. It sounds so much like the theme to one of Chuck Barris's game shows that the disconnect has to be intentional.
Album Reviews: Entertainment Weekly (10/12/01, p.28) - Ranked #7 in EW's "100 Best Movie Soundtracks" - "...Nichols' use of old and new Simon & Garfunkel songs was ingenious...Even though half of it is devoted to a mood-music score, this landmark introduced 'youth music' to grown-ups' movies..."
Advantages: Excellent Movie Sountrack. Disadvantages: None!
...memories of this movie and of the time it was released in the charts to me and I just love recalling it all. This track was released in 1985 and reached number 15 in the billboard charts. The music video to accompany this love song was taken from clips of the St Elmo's Fire movie also. This is an excellent track, that?s an all time favourite to me.
Overall Opinion Of St Elmo's Fire Soundtrack.
Well as you have probably gathered from reading this review, I really love this soundtrack a lot. I have had this original one for over twenty years. I first had it on cassette and then upgraded it to CD. It really looks a bit tatty on it, but that?s because it has been played a lot by me over the years, as I love it so much. This CD was one of the first movie soundtracks that really caught my attention because of the great meanings all the songs...

Advantages: Brings back all the best bits of the film. Disadvantages: None that I know.
...WOW! I love the film, and this soundtrack is absolutely amazing as well. Throughout the soundtrack I just want to get up and dance - and sometimes I do... LOL.
It's the whole standing in front of a mirror with the hairbrush CD. If you're a big fan of the film like me, then this is the perfect CD as you know all of the words off by heart without even realising it!
Everyone loves Patrick Swayze, and he sings track 3 (She's Like The Wind). It gives me goosebumps every time!
What makes this soundtrack even better is the price. For less than a fiver there's all the fun of the film! It'll get you dancing before you know it! Although you'll wish you were dancing with Patrick rather than on your own. LOL....

Advantages: beautiful music to a great film, very touching, cheap Disadvantages: carelessly made booklet, weird extra track
...of gold and red as
you can see in the picture. The writing "Alexander - Original Motion Picture
Soundtrack by Vangelis" looks like gold, with the words "Alexander" and "Vangelis"
being bigger than the rest.
The back of the CD has the tracklist on it, next to a picture of Alexander in battle on
his horse.
The booklet is basicly a long piece of paper folded four times. On the first page there
is a photgraph of Vangelis with the information that all the music has been composed,
arranged, produced and performed by him. In the lower corner of this pages we
get some more information on people who contributed to the songs because
some other instruments played by other musicians are featured in a few tracks.
There is also information on the recording staff and studio,
On the next two pages the tracks are listed again and there is more information...
