full-length artist album by hip-hop's most famous Noughties auteur Kanye West, you hunt across the pop landscape for fresh sounds ripe for plunder. Most obviously, there's Daft Punk, whose track "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" forms the vocoder foundation to "Stronger". But Kanye's learnt more from the robots than this straight steal would suggest--indeed, a good proportion of Graduation sounds informed by their vintage synthesisers and noveau `80s feel. Elsewhere, there's much to suggest Kanye's pop ambitions have no sign of waning: the opulent "Good Life" rolls along on a hook snatched from Michael Jackson's "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)", while "Homecoming" follows Jay-Z's lead and borrows the vocal talents of Coldplay's Chris Martin. The album's not without the occasional goof--"Drunk and Hot Girls", a boozy tale set to the tempo of an Eastern European drinking song, is something Outkast could more comfortably handle. But thankfully, there's also numerous moments where Kanye simply does what Kanye does best. "Can't Tell Me Nothing" is a sleek, swaggering statement of self-assurance, while "Everything I Am" kicks off on a battle tack but gradually softens, the sound of a man balancing power and responsibility: "Last year Chicago had 600 caskets," muses Kanye, "Man, killing's some wack shit". --Louis Pattison

Album Notes: Kayne West follows 2004's 'The College Dropout' and 2005's 'Late Registration' with the aptly titled 'Graduation', his third full-length studio album. West's showmanship and lyrical style has been compared with the likes of P.Diddy and Jay-Z, while he has a host of production credits to his name. Trademark orchestral strings, eclectic samples and huge beats accompany cleverly written lyrics of good times and bad, which are delivered with a sense of urgency, yet with the ease of an artist at the top of his game. Singles include 'Stronger', which includes a loop borrowed from Daft Punk, and 'Can't Tell Me Nothing'.
Advantages: Some catchy tracks, it grows on you Disadvantages: Not many really 'stand out' tracks
...has more of an edgy feel to it, starting off with a drum and electronic beat playing fairly slowly before the rap kicks in and it builds up a bit. It is more mellow than some of the tracks in pace though. This is another 'wave your hands' type track, though like I say it is quite mellow (can a track be mellow and edgy(?) its the beat that adds the edginess to it *shrug*).
This is the tracklisting on my version of the CD, though I believe you can get a version that also includes the following track - 'Good Night (Feat. Mos Def & Al Be Back)' but I haven't heard it, so I can't comment on it.
- Anything Else Worth Mentioning? -
This is a rap CD with a 'ParentalAdvisory' sticker on it (well ok to be totally honest, my CD box doesn't have the sticker but the CD cover artwork has the sticker in the corner and Ciao and other sites...

Advantages: Music is diverse, Samples are at it's best and West comes back "Stronger" Disadvantages: More tracks would have been acceptable
...Following the success of both "The College Dropout" & "The Late Registration" West's third installment is even more of a success. The rapper went head to head with 50 cent and completely outsold him. The theme of college is continued and West does not disappoint. My favourite track is "Can't Tell Me Nothing" & "Barry Bonds" which features Lil' Wayne the latter is a clash of hip hop heavyweights we expect Wayne to outdo West but this is a tight one Wayne comes with "i'm still cole like keyshia's family" this line takes a second to sink in but if you understand Southern accents cole sounds like cold which is an amazing line. Kanye does not disappoint and allows different concepts to be examined throughout. The cover and photowork is amazing and all the more reason to purchase it i certainly did and have not stopped listening to it. His...
