...*Introduction to Mario*
Mario Dewar Barrett was born on 27th August 1986 in Baltimore, Maryland, he grew up in various parts of Baltimore with his grandmother as his mother had a drug problem. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be a singer one day. He released his first album aged just sixteen years old when his released "Mario" in 2002.
On his second album release entitled Turning Point he captured a more mature sound and more intimate ballads. He collaborates with T.I, Jadakiss, Lil Jon and Scott Storch tom mention a few. Here is my review of his second release Turning Point from 2004.
*Turning Point*
Led by the huge single that was the infectious ballad Let Me love you this album shows the growth from Mario's debut album. He worked with some of the hottest producers of the moment including Scott Storch and Crunk...

...This new album 'Turning Point' by the fairly new R&B singer Mario, is his second album...and this is definately alot more grown-up than his last ablum two years ago when singing pop-R&B crossovers about getting his hair braided! (still a good album though). This therefore is his "Turning point" to a more mature sound from cute teen boy too manhood.
The album starts off with a high tempo, song to the haters track called "18" hot collaboration with Cassidy (american Hip-Hop rapper). This track is basically telling people not to compare him to older and more experienced artists such as the well-known Usher, which i myself get annoyed with..how can new artists prove themselves when they are always being compared to other highly experienced musicians, not fair. This song reminded me of just how young mario is, stating he has 7 years...

Advantages: souful, great voice, some classics Disadvantages: it almost feels like there wasn't enough tracks to fill the album
...Mario Winans is undoubtedly a great artist. His range in voice reminds me somewhat of a young R-Kelly however... The album titled "hurt no more" began to hurt...
Although there are some great tracks on here the album lacks in quality due to the fact there simply aren't enough good quality tracks. I could count the number of good ones on the fingers of one hand which pains me to say cos I actually rate Mario Winans VERY highly from his previous black label stuff!
Overall? I'd buy it again but to be honest I wish I'd listened to it before... Some of the stuff on here is awful - some brilliant.
Mario if you ever read this - speak to your producer and ask for some more decent tracks to record not just album fillers!...
