Advantages: originality, some finely crafted songs Disadvantages: towards the end of the 16 tracks, it may start to feel a little same-ey
...The Crystal Castles- a Toronto based duo made up of multi-talented instrumentalist Ethan Kath and singer Alice Glass that drown everyone else in a malaise of alternative electro-dance beats. Their music seems to be made up from a series of sounds from the old Atari games, perhaps the inspiration for thier name from the early 80s game also called Crystal Castle
For a relatively new band, only forming in about 2004, they have already made a name collaborating with ready-popular groups such as bloc party, the whip and the klaxons-all can be seen on youtube.
The best way to describe the sound of the crystal castles could be to imagine your old atari or nintendo assaulting you with its soundcard from across the room, with some tracks sounding like a balls-out thrash. Particular tracks such as song two, Alice Practice, and song 5...

Advantages: Great pure rock Disadvantages: None really
...Slash returned in 2000 with the latest incarnation of the band known as Slash's Snakepit and the album "Ain't Life Grand". Following from the great "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" - A side project that Slash undertook whilst unsure of his Guns N' Roses career - "Ain't Life Grand" develops the late 80's rock sound with a modern twist. Slash has completely changed the linup of the Snakepit band. Advantages: ground breaking concept album Disadvantages: some of the tracks are a bit samey but they all need to be on album!
...mates, meets a girl, falls in love, breaks up, realises his mates aren't that bad.
Ok it sounds really corny, but it is all very well told and Mike has a gift of making it seem like he is just talking to you on the phone or in the pub. Ok onto the CD
~Track 1~ It was Supposed to be so Easy~
This track has quite a grand opening and you almost expect some sort of ground breaking statement about the world, life in general, a political message or something....but no, Mike has to return a DVD, get some money out of the cash point (just a day in the life of any one else right). Basically he gets to the DVD shop, just in time before it closes so he won't get a fine...oh no! The DVD is not in the case arrghhh! Goes to the cash point - insufficient funds doh!
Oh my god where is that grand that he left in his house?! It's gone!
Arghh...
