Grange Hill - The Album - Grange Hill Cast

Advantages: You don't have to like the TV show to like the CD
Disadvantages: All the songs sound pretty similar

...This review was one of the first ones I wrote for Ciao, I have now re-vamped it to hopefully reach Ciao standard. THE BACKGROUND One Tree Hill Season 2 has just finished. It was shown on E4 every Thursday at 9pm, and then again on E4+1 straight after. One Tree Hill is an American teen drama. Set in Tree Hill this show follows the story of Lucas and Nathan. They are half brothers who initially don't get on, but basketball brings them together. I won't go into detail about the programme as this is a CD review (see my review of the box set) however it is important for you to know the type of programme as this will give you some idea about he music. There are the 'cool' kids you always get in American shows, the 'geeks' and those who try to fit in. It is a brilliant programme which uses the kind of music you would expect to see... Read review

...My taste in music is simple. I know what I like, end of story. I'm not keen on being boxed in a genre, I may naturally lean to the more rock, indie and guitar based music, no doubt influenced by my own feeble attempts at the guitar in my youth. Send the music on and I will give it a listen and come to a simple yeah or nah decision. Simple is as simple does I suppose. I did not buy the CD 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' until two years after its 1998 release. Oh yes, I am one of those old fashioned people who won't part with her cash for an album until she's been convinced by the single releases - well what do you expect from someone who remembers vinyl? The bad news for those around me is that the CD comes with full lyrics...tonight Matthew I am going to be Lauryn Hill...BizzyBek can clear a room with this intro! I have to say... Read review

Advantages: The beats are brilliant, the vocals absolutely excellent.
Disadvantages: The music lacks lyrical depth.

...'Black Sunday' is the super second album from the American hip-hop group that is Cypress Hill. The album was released in 1993 and consists of a grand total of fourteen tracks; it's a great little album from Cypress Hill and one which comes complete with a high number of top tracks. I'm not exactly a massive fan of hip-hop, I do however have a great appreciation for the genre at times and when I'm in the mood for the music there are a couple of albums that I almost always reach for; 'Black Sunday' is one of those albums. Beginning with 'I Wanna Get High' the music immediately makes its impact, the beat is absolutely infectious and the vocals always are excellent to listen to here.
