...Ingmar Bergman's Smultronstallet (WILD STRAWBERRIES) was released in 1957 and one of his most accessible and humanistic films, written whilst he was ill in hospital, it is, in result, one of the warmest and most deeply felt films ever made. A renowned medical professor (legend-director Victor Sjostrom) is living his last remaining days on the road, on his way to accept an honorary degree for his contribution to medicine. Travelling with him is his daughter-in-law who hates him because he reminds her of her husband who she hates. On the way they stop at the professor's old family house where he recalls his childhood, re-enacting his memories through being there again (unseen by anyone). Advantages: Very good film, perfomances, ideas put across by Bergman
Disadvantages: Relationships needed to be defined clearly

...'s deserted summer house is the infidelity of his fiancée at the time with his brother; he watches the two embrace each other, and strawberries fall from her lap; staining it red, experiencing his first heartbreak. This may suggest that due to this event; his whole life was then dictated to have the cold and cynical demeanour. Depsite the depressing summary above, this film resembles a faint glow of optimism though-out the film. CAST PERFORMANCES Sjostrom gives a very compellingbut yet poignant performance as an old man who is close to death; and looks back on his life. He conveys all the emotions that the old man experiences so well it really pierces the screen. His performance certainly overshadowed the other roles in the film; and it felt as if Bergman wanted to show that other characters didn't have an important role in the film... Read review

...The Bone Collector THe Bone Collector is a 1999 drama-mystery-thriller film starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. It doesn't actually seem like it was made 10 years ago now as I think it is still quite an up to date and current movie. Ange plays a similar sort of role for her, pretty girl but tough with a bit of an edge. She gets to show her sexy and adventurous side but also a vunerable side too. She is a police officer, like her deceased father who is not really mentioned but you can see that he is definitely her idol. She is just a routine beat cop called Amelia Donaghy but a chance finding of a crime scene on a routine day changes the direction of her career and life forever.
