Grass (+DVD) - Animal Collective

Advantages: Previously a very rare record now readily available.
Disadvantages: It is almost unlistenable, more art than music

...Hollinndagain is a seven track re-releasing of an extremely rare live album released before Animal Collective were the favourite band of every hipster in America, in fact before they were even known as Animal Collective. It shows the band in their rawest form, it is a collection of seven avant garde 'songs' that mainly consist of a variety of sound effects looped over each other at different tempos. It was originally released in 2002 on only 300 hand painted vinyl LPs, these originals can now be seen changing hands over the internet for a lot of money, and is recorded from a performance for WFMU Radio and from a few live dates with Black Dice. Advantages: contains unreleased songs never heard before!
Disadvantages: Doesn't have a couple of his better songs on

...This package contians 4 cds and 1 dvd all housed in a very nice fold out case. The cds contain unreleased and early versions of some songs. The cds are in the order that the songs were released from his first song to the last. They contian most of the hits and a lot of the less known songs. The only drawback to the cds is that they dont have a couple of his best songs like "Earth Song". The dvd is really good and it was previously un seen footage on one of his tours. To sum up this is a really goood package for any Jacko fan. It makes sense to buy this package instead of all of the cds and it probably costs less too!... Read review

Advantages: Energetic, Original, Fast, Uplifting, Technically excellent music
Disadvantages: Some of their own work not as good as the covers.

...I first heard this amazing group on TV (Glastonbury '05) when they played an amazing cover of Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades" Let me first just start by saying that before I heard this band I was quite narrow-minded about 'bluegrass' music but these guys take it to another level - and some. Hayseed Dixie (pronounced AC/DC) are mainly renowed for their cover songs of rock bands,and this album (Weapons Of Grass Destruction)is no exception, This album features 15 tracks (5 of which are their own tracks) The rest are mind-blowing covers that are techniaclly excellent the speed in which these guys play their banjos, guitars, violins & bluergrass mandolins is literally jaw-dropping.
