...‘Boom Boom Boom Boom’, how many people out there remember that one?
JohnLeeHooker is a pure blues artist, he’s been one of the greats since 1948. Yes… dating back to World War II. He comes from Mississippi, so I don’t think I have to explain any more of that… the hometown of Jazz, R&B and soul greats.
His voice is deep and husky, and his toe tapping jazz tunes sure make you feel like you should be sitting on a veranda in Tennessee somewhere. (Wearing those denim overalls, with a cask of whiskey… not a glass).
This is a great album for the serious Rhythm & Blues listener, even if you’re not a fan or a bit of the uneducated side when it comes to music.. have a listen… this is how music began!

One of my passions is the Blues. This review is a review of Comin' Home to the Blues, volume II.
This really is a classic CD if its type. It sounds like a Whose Who in Blues Hall of Fame. There are tracks my Howlin' Wolf, Bo Didley, sonny Boy Williamson, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Elmore James. Little Walter, Otis Rush, Etta James (who has one of the sexiest female voices ever. In any musical genre!) Willie Dixon, JohnLeeHooker, Jimmy Rogers, Koko Taylor (who has the other sexiest female voices ever. In any musical genre!) Washboard Sam and Lowell Fulson.
The CD begins with Howlin' Wolf's Red Rooster. This is laid back blues, filled with everything...

...the drums, the lyrics of Mr Buchanan again deal with ordinary events in his and other peoples lives and he makes them sound magnificent and noble in the process.
The Album
The collection begins with “Happiness” (4.40) this song might be familiar to some of you as it was used for many years on the Scottish tourist board T.V. adverts, open beautiful scenery and ancient buildings with “The Blue Nile” playing in the background, picture postcard perfect.
The song begins with an opening refrain on a keyboard and if you listen really closely you can hear Paul counting 2, 3, 4 and the tapping of his foot on the floor of the recording studio (a trick used by JohnLeeHooker on his recordings) and the strumming of an acoustic guitar the vocals begin with the lines “Now that I’ve found Peace at Last, tell me...
