for. It's John Travolta as Danny Zuko as Olivia Newton-John's pompadoured main squeeze, and the kids go crazy. Fresh from his astronomical success with Travolta inSaturday Night Fever, Bee Gee Barry Gibb penned the title track (sung by Frankie Valli). Sha Na Na is over-represented, and actress Stockard Channing struts her, um, versatility, singing a couple of tracks. This has become a touchstone in American culture, and so isn't likely to improve its standing in the world's eyes. Maybe the point is that it's supposed to sound amateurish, but it does manage to eke out some fun, most notably on the hit "You're the One That I Want".--Scott Wilson

Grease - Frankie Valli

This is the theme tune to the movie, Grease is the word, is the time, is the motion, grease is the way you are feeling.... we all know this one. It opens the film. It is a feel good song. I like this song as it gets you in the mood for the film.

We all know the film and we all know the songs. You can't help but sing along to them.
I have listed The tracks as they are on the CD. This is not in the order of the film. I think they have listed them by order of popularity.
I have included a track listing and I will attempt to explain where in the film the song comes in and what it means. Also whether I like it or not!

Summer Nights - Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is the famous song where Sandy and Danny are each singing about what they did that summer. Sandy is telling the truth to the girls, whilst Danny is bigging it up for the boys so that he sounds cool and like he got some "action". "tell me more, tell me more! It is an upbeat track that is really catchy. I like this track
Hopelessly Devoted to You - Olivia Newton-John +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is the heart-wrenching song that Sandy sings at Jan's house during the sleepover. She loves Danny and cannot understand why he is being so mean to her. It is a lovely ballad. I love this song and have sung it at karaoke several times.
You're the One That I Want - Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is the famous song at the end of the film when Sandy appears at the fairground as a vamp. Danny cannot believe his eyes and falls at her feet, then then proceed to sing this song together. It is a great upbeat track that I really like.
Sandy - John Travolta ++++++++++++++++++++++
Altogether now, Stranded at the drivein, branded a fool, what will they say, Monday at school, Sandy..... Danny sings this after Sandy walks out on him at the drivein after he pounces on her. Its a downbeat song that is a bit sad. Not one of my favourites.
Beauty School Dropout - Frankie Avalon +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is the song that Teen Angel sings to Frenchie after she admits that Beauty School is not going so well. He tells her to go back to highschool. This song is fun and I like the way that the pink ladies are the angels.
Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee - Stockard Channing ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Sung by Rizzo at Jan's house, after Sandy is such a goodygoody she won't drink or smoke. Look at me I'm Sandra Dee, lousy with virginity... This song takes the micky out of Sandy and is a fun song. Its really good and catchy.
Greased Lightnin' - John Travolta ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Danny and the T-Birds sing this song when they fixing up a car that is a real load of junk. They can see the potential for picking up girls in it once its done. A classic that did not do so well when it was released in the charts. I love this song. Whenever it is played at a disco everyone starts to do the hand actions!
It's Raining on Prom Night - Cindy Bullens +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
My memory is a bit grey on this one as to where it appears in the film. I think its when Sandy is missing the school dance, or it could be sung at the school dance I'm not sure. Melancholy song which is very slow
Alone at a Drive-In Movie ++++++++++++++++++++
Again, I cannot recall this from the actual film.
Blue Moon - Sha Na Na +++++++++++++++++++
This is played at the school dance off and the T-Birds actually bare their behinds to the tv. The lady in the diner reckons that she recognises one of them!!
Rock & Roll Is Here to Stay Those Magic Changes Hound Dog Born to Hand Jive +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
These songs above all feature at the school dance off. They are very catchy and of the era.
Tears on My Pillow ++++++++++++++++++++
....pain in my heart caused by you,uo,uo. This is sung by Danny after he is rejected by Sandy. Its a sad song. I like it.
Mooning - Cindy Bullens Freddy, My Love Rock & Roll Party Queen - Louis St. Louis +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
These songs all feature at the school dance off
There Are Worse Things I Could Do - Stockard Channing +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Rizzo thinks that she is pregnant and sings this to Sandy. But to cry in front of you, thats the worst thing I could do............ A sad song. Rizzo will not let her guard down and ask for help from anybody. A good song with a twist
Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee - Olivia Newton-John +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Sandy sings this at the car-race when she realises that she must change if she is to keep Danny by her side. It is quite melancholy.
We Go Together - Olivia Newton-John +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is the song sung by the whole cast at the fairground. The whole cast are together, all the couples are happy, all problems are sorted and its the end of high school. Its a really upbeat song, a whop bop aloo bop a wop bam boo!! I love this song as you know that everybody is happy now!!
Love Is a Many Splendored Thing ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Sorry, cannot recall this one from the film.
Grease - Frankie Valli - the closing version of the opening song! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I hope you find this useful. It is all taken from memory. When I have time to watch the film I shall be able to update the couple of songs that I cannot recall!!!
I love this CD and often play it in the car to sing along to when I am driving. I just love Grease and all of its songs.
As a movie soundtrack it is brilliant and you know nearly every song on it, unlike some soundtrack cd's.
Available from Play, Amazon and other places for around £7.99
(Mine is a 2 cd boxset, which has different version on it, but I have reviewed it as a 1 cd set as that is what it is listed under.)
Advantages: High quality vocals from John Travolta, Olivia Newton- John and Frankie Valli. Disadvantages: Its a great album but you may have to hide it from your friends!!

Advantages: A decent mix of tracks Disadvantages: Cindy Bullens
Who reading this has never seen the film Grease? Not many I bet. It is a film which crosses countless generations, and adopts new generations of fans all of the time, even my three year old has seen Grease, and enjoyed it I might add. What has made the film so popular? Well the story is good, but it is the music for me that makes Grease the greast film that it is.
Everyone knows at least one of the songs from the Greasesoundtrack, and how many times have we danced around drunkenly (or more worringly stone cold sober) to one of the classic tunes? The cover of the 24 track CD has a picture of a young looking John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.
Opener, title track and the song which kicks the film into action is 'Grease' by Frankie Valli. It is an up tempo, instantly recognisable track, which has made many a man feel like he has ...
Advantages: Fun score, great performances, surprising arrangements Disadvantages: BAD version of Beauty School Dropout
Of the numerous recordings of Grease in my collection of stage and film music (five), this is the one I listen to the most often and the one ‘most deserving of wider recognition.’ There are so many opinions here on Ciao of the film soundtrack and I feel I’m being a bit strange and different by writing on any of the others…
This is the most recent Broadway revival of the show, and they did some pretty radical things to the score for it. They didn’t write any new songs, nor did they incorporate any of the songs written for the film, which to me is a great relief. Don’t get me wrong, I love the four songs from the film, but they don’t fit in with the rest of the score. The original songs from the Grease stage show (six years before the film came out) are all pastiches of various kinds ...
This is my most favourite soundtrack of all time. Since I first watched the film I was addicted to it and know all the words to the songs. I had this soundtrack on tape originally but I listened to it so much it sounds a bit dodgy now. In parts of it the music goes slow and patchy. This then forced me into getting it on cd. Being a newer version to what I originally had this follows the stage version of it and includes extra songs from what was on the film. I will highlight the extra ones when i go through the songs.
There are 24 tracks on the album but the last song is the first song being repeated.That is grease, which is played at the start of the film when all the title names are going up. It is a fast song, with a good beat to it. The theme behind this song is a sort of cool one which the two main grouops of the tee birdes ...

Album Notes
Three of the first four tracks on this double album, "Summer Nights," "Hopelessly Devoted To You" and "You're The One That I Want" all went on to become big hits in the USA and UK for the new disco sensation John Travolta and his co-star Olivia Newton-John. Frank Valli also took the title song into the upper reaches of charts all over the world. As for this album, it lingered for 12 weeks at number 1 in America, and topped the British chart for a lucky 13. Even in the 90's several of these tracks are still guaranteed floor-fillers at many a party night, and once again it is showing at a theatre near you.
