Remember that classic John Travolta/Olivia Newton John musical set in the 50s called Grease?? No?? Well truly, who doesn't? Its a classic!
Now Gainsville giants, Less Than Jake have brought their own special style of Ska-Punk to the hit musical, and they pulled it off spectacularly! There are eight covers on this album and all of them great. However I payed 14.99 for this album, and for 15 minutes of playtime it was a bit expensive. Anyway here's the tracks,
1. Summer Nights 2. You’re The One That I Want 3. Look At Me I’m Sandra Dee 4. Greased Lightning 5. Hopelessly Devoted To You 6. Blue Moon 7. Beauty School Dropout 8. We Go Together
My favourites have got to be We Go Together, "Greased Lighting" and "Summer Nights". The clapping in "Greased Lightning" is enough to make you clap along! "Greased Lightning" and Summer Nights add a true sense of Less Than Jake humour to the 70s tunes.
"We Go Together" is hilarious and the lyrics and fun tune is going to have you in hysterics. "Beauty School Dropout" is another great cover. Starting with clean (if not rather purposely poorly song) vocals before some recognisable playing.
There seems to be a lack of horns on this album however which is fairly dissapointing, never the less for Less Than Jake fans and rich people alike, there's some great ska covers on this album.
This CD brings these classic tracks alive, and Greased Lighting sounds great in Ska-Punk! They pull this off whilst keeping the quality Ska-Punk style and adding some classic humour.
If your new to Less Than Jake then I'd reccomend Hello Rockview or Borders and Boundaries. For any Less Than Jake fan however this is a must for the collection.
