Bob Dylan had shot to fame for taking Folk music to the front of international consciousness. From the early unique styled Folk album 'Bob Dylan' Dylan had in fact constantly been shifting his direction. He became the most respected protest songwriter of the time and his songs became anthems for the peace and love movement. With the socially conscious, politically motivating messages Bob Dylan had won the respect of not just society as a whole but also of the intellectual elite. Come 1966 however and something was different. Bob Dylan was a different Bob Dylan to the one who had won over all that respect.

Advantages: Great songs - wonderful, popular tunes Disadvantages: A few songs aren't as good as the others
...of Rachmaninov's love themes which is derived from one of Paganini's violin pieces, the one that found fame as the theme to LWT's 'The South Band Show'. This is really lovely; it has a great tune and great orchestra accompaniment to the main tune on piano. It is so calming and soothing - great for relaxing - absolutely wonderful.

This piece, played by Boris Berezovsky on piano as well as soloists of the Royal Opera house, Covent Gardens, is taken from the song written by Schubert in 1817 which tells the story of a trout's losing battle against a man. It is in the structure of theme and variations. Each variation has different instrumentation, with each instrument playing the main tune in at least one of the variations. ...This CD, Last of the Great Whales, is another superb CD released by the Band, Bugles, Pipes & Drums of The Royal Irish Regiment under the direction of Captain Alex Knox psm, and Major Graham Jones MBE ARCM psm CA MUS. (What a mouthful!)
I first became aware of this CD almost two years ago when the band of the Royal Irish Regiment came to my school to do a music workshop and then a concert in the evening. At the concert, they mentioned that they had a stall at the back of the hall where they were selling these CDs and had information about loads of stuff - but with me playing in the concert, I had to help pack up at the end and never got the chance to look at the stall.
