Great Caruso - Mario Lanza

...Al Martino's biggest claim to fame is that he was the first artist to have a UK No 1 single. When the very first Top 40 was published in November 1952, his "Here In My Heart" sat proudly on top of the pile. It's nice to think that whatever else can happen in your career, they can't take that away from you. What fun it is to look at that first chart. All those great singers like Mario Lanza (a close friend of Al's), Vera Lynn, Guy Mitchell and…..er, Max Bygraves with the immortal "Cowpuncher's Cantata". But we're getting off track somewhat so back to Mr Martino. He was born Alfred Cini in Philadelphia on 7/10/27 and began his singing career with help from Mario Lanza, the Italian-American opera singer. I have found that most of the recordings are a little crackly which does add to the authentic feel and, after all, they are really quite old recordings. Enrico Caruso was born on February 25th 1873 and died on August 2nd 1921. As with many of those extra special artistes over the years his life was all too brief, dying at the ripe old age of 48. Caruso was born to a poor family and by the age of ten was having to work as a mechanic. but he attended a choral school at night. Caruso the man had other talents apart from Opera and was a talented and skilled caricaturist. Caruso was lucky in his career in that, it was at it's height, when musical recordings were just becoming possible and popular. Advantages: Relaxing beautiful harmonies and vocals

...( Toni Braxton) in Italian/ Spanish and also of Frank Sinatras "My Way" . I was completely captivated by the whole ambience of the cd - It is clearly the best Cd I possess. It is romantic, moving, exhilarating, powerful, words cannot describe the mix of emotions it produced. It completely blows G4 out of the water, these four men are in a class of their own - they are all from musical theatrical backgrounds from Madrid, Paris, USA and Geneva, they are all very attractive to look at but most of all they have voices to woo even the hardest of women (or men actually) !!! Carlos from Madrid has the aire of Mario Lanza ( I'm not old enough to remember him but my parents have his LP's !!! ) Sebastian's vocals in Passara are sharp crisp and pitch perfect.
