reserve their chorus numbers for loud dramatic climaxes or for scenes of mammoth spectacle (and they don't come much more mammoth than the three-chorus pageant "Gloria all'Egitto" fromAida, here performed by the Dresden State Opera). Fortunately the danger is avoided,and it is fascinating to hear how even within each "big number" the composers represented here have provided emotional and dynamic variety. The "Gerusalem!" chorus from Verdi'sI Lombardi alla prima crociatamoves between collective introspection and powerful apostrophe, for example, and the Dresden performers get the balance exactly right. Wagner uses a distant and serene female chorus (here, members of the Bayreuth Festival) to heighten the anticipation of the wedding inLohengrin--though the effect is spoiled here by a few coughs. The La Scala recording of the "Bell Chorus" fromI Pagliacciachieves an exciting sense of the crowd moving closer and closer, which builds the tension. Each composer, and each recording, handles the possibilities and problems of the operatic chorus in a different way--and the cumulative effect is pretty impressive. --Warwick Thompson

of the busiest performing arts centres in the world with different plays being shown all the time. There is always something new happening at the Opera house. It is an icon of Australia!
To view the outside of the Opera House is free. You can walk around it at Circular Quay and up to it and into the reception and shop for free. If you want to see the interior there is a tour you can take. The best views are early in the morning during the week as there is fewer tourists, in fact some mornings there may be only a handful of people or no-one at all.

The Rocks has a great view especially when the sun it setting as you can view the Opera House from the side. It is also free, you can have some lunch in one of the cafes overlooking the Opera House. There is an observation deck here ...

Oh my God, I here you say, not another effects pedal review. Don't worry, there's only one more to go in my collection.
As with the other pedals this one has a solid plastic moulding with a slightly awkward to open battery compartment, accessed by pushing in the pedal hinge pins and lifting it off. Much better to use an external power supply, it saves money and broken fingernails.
So what does a Chorus pedal do?
Well it sits in the line between the guitar and amplifier and alters the signal. Basically it is a modulating effect which adds a slight highlight and a lowlight, to create a softened, even slightly ethereal tone to the sound.
There are four controls that allow you to adjust the effect, Level, Tone, Rate and Depth, an input jack and two outputs so that you can use two amplifiers to create stereo effects. The controls ...

As a family of six there is much logging in, off and out on our computer. Many a day goes by when I find myself on my son's profile on MySpace or in my wife's eBay account without even realising how I got there.
It was therefore, with a heavy heart that I decided to find myself a web browser of my own. My wife and kids are now left to the wondrous firefox as I scour the web for a viable alternative. Naturally, Internet Explorer is straight off the menu as its massive security flaws and general style make it repulsive to me. Safari looked promising on first download only for me to find that it just was not compatible with several of my favourite sites. This left me with but one alternative...Opera.
I have never really fancied the idea of the Opera Web Browser. For some reason it always came across as a very serious product to me ...
