...Just glancing over the track listing included at the end of this review is enough to hint at both the quantity and quality of Browns 9 year solo career. Defining moments that capture Browns full ability are commonplace, as are moments that pay homage to the agility that can be found throughout his eclectic back catalogue. From his 1998 single ?My Star? to his latest 2005 offering ?All Ablaze?. Collaborations with the likes of U.N.K.L.E and Noel Gallagher serve as strong reminders of the typical diversity that lies within almost every track. Advantages: Perfect collection of contemporary music

...of Ian Brown's Greatest Hits is the large track number. This is theoretically good because it offers more music for your money, but when the influences and style of the music is so strict, it can become a bit repetitive. The cover sleeve is another let down of this CD, where one might expect pages of lyrics and insightful illustrations, this simply has a an assortment of photographs highlighting some of the up-points in Ian Brown's career. If you are the sort of person that likes to slowly read through the cover sleeve whilst listening to the tracks, this is not an album for you. Overall though, this album does manage to create enough inquizative originality in its style to justify purchasing it: where it may be lacking aesthetically, it makes up for in its well maintainted tone and rhythms...lyrically speaking its not to bad either... ...This is a CD containing 20 of James Brown's best hits. It has songs ranging from Get Up Offa That Thing to Papa's Got A Brand New Bag, from It's a Man's Man's Man's World to Living In America. The complete track listing is below. Before i bought this CD i'd only heard of Papa's Got A Brand New Bag (bad for a DJ i know) by James Brown's but ever since i bought it i can't get enough of him. It has to be the Funk mix with the soul that does it for me. The best thing was i picked this copy up from some supermarket for a pittence of what it should have been. Only £3.50 ish i think. Is well worth the £10 a high street shop would charge. I believe it is now possible to get pretty cheap copies of the net. If you love anything James has done you'll love this CD. Highly Recommended.
