Please please tell me now... there is something you should know! This album really is fantastic and every Duran Duranny should already have it, if you haven't then go out and get it .... go on.... NOW!
I'm a huge Duran Duran fan so of course I'm likely to be a little biased whilst writing this review but I'l try to be as impartial as possible for your benefit.
_______ *The band* ---------------- Duran Duran is... Nick Rhodes (keyboard) John Taylor (bass) Roger Taylor (drums) Andy Taylor (guitar) Simon LeBon (vocals)
The band formed in 1978 and are currently touring for what will probably be the last time. I am very chuffed to let you all know that I saw them at Manchester on Wednesday night and there live performance is amazing. Leaping around the stage
they display so much energy. They even wrote some new songs for the tour which was also nice to see.
______________ *About the album* ------------------------- The album was released last year but due to the bands success in the Brit awards it has had a huge boost into the album charts fluttering all over the top 20 for months now. The 'Greatest' album will almost certainly be their last which makes it a must have for Duran Duran fans.
The album is 78 minutes long and has a whopping 19 tracks showing just how many classic songs Duran Duran have released.
The price differs depending on where you buy it. It can be found for as little as £8.99, the highest price I have seen is £14.99. This is very cheap for so many songs.
___________ *Track listing* ------------------- Is There Something I Should Know- What a classic this one is, everyone knows it from the first few bars. Le Bon's singing in this is superb.
Reflex- Na-na-na-na oh oh oh oh oh the reflex fle-fle-fle-fle-flex... come on you know this one!
View To A Kill- Mysterious, eery and great little guitar bits between the singing.
Ordinary World- One us young uns know, a slow number which Simon says helped him through coping with losing someone. Very thought provoking.
Save A Prayer- Another reasonably slow one, great electronic sound in this one.
Rio- Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand... chances are you'll all have heard this one, very upbeat, a classic.
Hungry Like The Wolf- One of those great sing-a-long songs. Very catchy, you'll be singing the 'do do dooo' bits all day!
Girls On Film- Used on the film Calendar Girls. Once again very upbeat. The intro gets everyone singing.
Planet Earth- Another mysterious one, something you can imaging your 40 year old mum dancing to. Great all the same!
Union Of The Snake- A funky number, one that you hunch your shoulders to.
New Moon On Monday- Not one of my favourites, Simon's vocals are very deep in this one.
Wild Boys- A chanting-type song which you either love or hate, one of their most popular songs.
Notorious- No-No-Notorious... this is a real funky one!
I Dont Want Your Love- Some female vocals in this one, something very different from most songs on the album, a nice change.
All She Wants Is- This changes the tone of the album completely, quite a sexy song indicated by the title.
Electric Barbarella- A groovy disco track now, I love this one.
Serious- Great guitar riffs in this song, something non-duran durannies might like.
Skin Trade- Great saxophone bits in this. I love the high pitched vocals at the beginning.
Come Undone- Male and female vocals here, a great finish to a great album
______ *The inlay* -------------- The inlay shows pictures of the band in some of their videos and shows the track information such as who wrote it etc etc. One downside to this album is the fact that there are no lyrics in the inlay which means for some songs you might end up making up your own lyrics! But even so, some of the tracks on the album are so popular that many don't need the lyrics.
Overall a great album, the lack of lyrics is a minor let down but even so this album truly is a timeless classic. The 20 odd years of Duran Duran's existence displayed in just one album. Now test your REFLEXs and get out and buy it!

Great. I'm not sure about knowing the lyrics - I often can't understand a word Simon is singing.

Aha - now we are talking music here, I must admit to having a few compilations of D.D, and just like any artist you will love em or hate em, I belong to the former. I heard their Tickets in this area were pretty expensive. Well done on the review, not much else you could have said from a fan point of view.
Greatestis a Duran Duran fan's biggest wish come true (next to a live concert, of ... more
course)--all their ground-breaking videos together in one place. More than radio, MTV made mega-stars out of the photogenic group, and few took better advantage of the me...
