The best Megadeth compilation ever released!
Advantages: Great tracks, Remastered Versions, Lots of Tracks Disadvantages: Missing a couple of Megadeth Classics
Well, where to start, this CD is an absolute masterpiece, with 17 of the best Megadeth songs there are to choose from! As soon as I played this cd for the first time I was greeted with the familiar intro of my personal favorite song "Holy Wars". The songs are all good and ordered perfectly to compliment each other side by side. The only bad point I can stress is that it is missing Megadeth classics such as "Trust" and "Tornado ... ...from all the good Megadeth ones out there isnt a particularly easy task, and I think Dave Mustaine has picked 17 Great songs so what more can you do!?
Also, I will add, I purchased the Special Edition version with the DVD and the DVD is equally as good treating you to live versions of songs like "Holy Wars" and "Prince of Darkness"

The only bad point I can stress is that it is missing Megadeth classics such as "Trust" and "Tornado of Souls" but, lets be honest, to pick 17 songs from all the good Megadeth ones out there isnt a particularly easy task, and I think Dave Mustaine has picked 17 Great songs so what more can you do!?
Also, I will add, I purchased the Special Edition version with the DVD and the DVD is equally as good treating you to live versions of songs like "Holy Wars" and "Prince of Darkness"
My advice would be to buy this cd! Its a great starting point to get you into Megadeth and if you are already an experienced "droogie" then buy this awesome cd anyway, it will save you the hassle of switching from album to album to get great songs!!!

Album Notes
Megadeth: Dave Mustaine (vocals, guitar); Chris Poland, Jeff Young, Al Pitrelli, Marty Friedman (guitar); David Ellefson (bass instrument, background vocals); Jimmy DeGrasso, Nick Menza, Chuck Behler, Gar Samuelson (drums). Producers: Dave Mustaine; Mike Clink Compilation Producer: Kevin Flaherty. Recording information: 1986 - 2004. In the acclaimed documentary SOME KIND OF MONSTER, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, an original member of Metallica, emotionally conveys how it feels living in the shadow of his more successful former bandmates. Of course, leading what is arguably the second-greatest act of thrash metal's heyday isn't exactly a tough lot in life, especially when it still involves selling millions of records. Even at the commercial peak of 1992's COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION, Megadeth never watered down its sonic trademarks--Mustaine's sneering vocals and blazing guitar work, always backed by fierce, complex rhythms--a point reinforced by this excellent 17-song anthology. Classic Megadeth is well represented here--most notably with the stomping, bass-heavy "Peace Sells" and the sci-fi mini-epic "Hangar 18." But GREATEST HITS also leaves a generous amount of room for the group's finest latter-day tunes. With remastered sound and a well-selected track listing, this collection is an ideal introduction to the potent speed metal of Megadeth.
