What's wrong with this album? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WAY too many covers for my liking. Sure, Knockin' On Heaven's Door was good, Live And Let Die was pretty damn good too, but on a Greatest Hits, covers should be more scarce (especially when they are Since I Don't Have You and Sympathy For The Devil - Tolerable, yes, greatest hits? No! Furthermore, tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Civil War was even released, I'm not certain but, that's what I think. And, if that's so, how could it be a Greatest Hit?
The band was also not consulted about this album as far as I'm aware, so it's little more than a cash-in to mark the ten year anniversary of the band (as we know it) splitting up.
What's Right With This Album? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Well, it's a must for any of the following:
-Guns N' Roses collector -Virgin GN'R listener (i.e. someone who hasn't heard their music vefore, ever, nothing sexual need be implied) -Guns N' Roses fan with little to no albums
It does feature some amazing songs that you really have to own
There's nothing here that I don't already have on a CD, but I went ahead and bought the album just so that I had a full set. I was glad to hear some of Guns N' Roses best songs on here, but must admit, I was disappointed that it wasn't the best of Guns N' Roses, but much like Ronseal, it was exactly what it said on the tin - Their Greatest Hits. By no means does it measure the quality of the band, it simply celebrates the songs they released that fared (or is it faired?) well in the charts (some didn't even fare to well).
Here's what they should have done: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Repackaged Appetite for Destruction, added an extra few discs containing the GNR Lies CD, Civil War, 14 Years, Yesterdays, Pretty Tied Up (It's grown on me recently...), Estranged (This rules! Why wasn't it on there? Sure, it was over-ambitious and perhaps trying too hard, but I love it nonetheless), You Could Be Mine, Don't Cry (original), Live and Let Die, November Rain and Dead Horse and called it "The Best of Guns N' Roses".
But still, it's a good album...I'm just disappointed with it

guns and roses are pretty cool! but you could probably write a bit about each song to get up to the next ratin level! but it was still a great review about a great band!

Advantages: Amazing album! Bargain price, you can't get bored of Guns n' roses Disadvantages: Axl's voice MAY become slightly whiney but hey, listen to the instruments ;)
