Well that’s what I thought when I first heard the Eurythmics, hasn't Ann Lennox got an excellent voice. The Eurythmics really sum up the 80's style and I especially like them because they play... more

Advantages Advantages Great lyrics, good music and that fabulous voice!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could do without some of the songs on this list and repetious lyrics could wear down listeners.

Every song here has a beat that refuses to be ignored! This work is not only a great intro into this band's sound and style, it will keep you moving no matter what else is going on in the room. The striking and unique Annie Lennox has a voice that can shift through songs adamant, tender, derisive, gentle and wry as naturally as flames dancing in the wind. I have been a fan of Eurythmics since they first swept into my sound space in the late eighties. I have loved and lost many of their albums over the years, but this is usually the one that ends up getting re-purchased the most, which is a ... more

Advantages Advantages What the 80's were all about

Disadvantages Disadvantages they don't make music like this anymore

Ok , I’ve brought ops on Queen , Fleetwood Mac , The Carpenters and Roxette , and with time on my hand , lately I gone through my favourite sometimes long forgotten albums , and so here is another side of my vast musical likes , this time a synthesizer based band - The Eurythmics . Just watch out for the next installment , Erasure . ‘Greatest Hits’ - Eurythmics Talk of the 80’s and one British group always mentioned are the Eurythmics , such was the impact they had. Made up of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart , they started off life in The Tourists . How many of you will remember ‘I Only Want To ... more

Advantages Advantages great, classic songs, dig that 80's sound man! Annie Lennox is amazing!

Disadvantages Disadvantages You might NOT dig that 80's sound...erm that's it I think

Annie Lennox was the first artist I became a fan of, I was admittedly enchanted by the video of Walking on broken glass(I was a big fan of 'ye olde times') and her voice was a thing of sheer beauty and magnitude. A few years on, and I became aware that my fave female solo artist had at one time been part of a duo, the Eurythmics. She was the voice, and he(Dave Stewart) played the guitar, wrote the songs and generally looked extremely terrifying(although his partner in crime did this aswell), I was only until I purchased the Brits '98 cd that I decided the Euythmics were fab(sweet dream was ... more

Advantages Advantages The definitive collection ... all the best tracks included

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe a few too many at the end

The Eurythmics have had a long and chequered career. Formed by Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox when The Tourists broke up in 1980 they provided a string of inspired hit songs over that decade until they, too, went their separate ways. They recently got back together (1999) to record a new album (‘Peace’) and toured with a widely acclaimed live stage show. I managed to catch their performance at Wembley. This review is of the video (Laserdisc in my case – hence the reference to side 1 and 2) version of ‘Greatest Hits’. There was a CD released at the same time which had 14 tracks on it - this was ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic collection of songs

Disadvantages Disadvantages A shame that only 18 could be included

The 1980's combination of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart was nothing less than complete genius. The vocal skills of Annie Lennox teamed with the vocal, but maybe more instrumentally talented, Dave Stewart made an inspirational duo that managed to make a large impact on the music of the 1980's, the likes of which we will probably never see again from a union of just 2 people. Released in 1991, Eurythmics Greatest Hits catalogues a success of chart topping singles from 1982-89, the very best from the numerous albums they made. A mix of some quite up beat hits such as 'Sisters Are Doin' It For ... more
