Advantages: Good mix of tunes over his career, easy to pick up and listen to Disadvantages: A 2nd CD of rarities/b-sides would have been nice
Fatboy Slim aka Norman Cook has had a long and varied musical career. Starting off playing bass in The Housemartins, Cook has released under a number of pseudonyms (including Pizzaman, Freak Power and Beats International) before settling on his Fatboy alter ego. This greatest hits package showcases some of his best work of the Slim era.
Featuring singles from all four Fatboy Slim album (Better Living Through Chemistry, You've Come ... ...& Palookaville) this is a fine collection. All the classics you'd expect to find are here: Rockafella Skank, Praise You, Weapon of Choice - in total there are 16 old favourites and 2 new tracks, Champion Sound and That Old Pair Of Jeans. While the newcomers aren't breaking any new ground, its nice to have something new to listen to.
My only criticism is that this greatest hits album could have contained more. Maybe it should have been ... more

My only criticism is that this greatest hits album could have contained more. Maybe it should have been a Norman Cook greatest hits album, covering his earlier work and rare remixes, plus other album tracks and b-sides which are still worth a listen. A second disk would have been welcome (although on the limited edition of the album you get a second disk of videos and Fatboy videos are usually quality).
"Why Try Harder" is a decent collection of Fatboy slim classics and will remain so for years to come.
Advantages: Brilliant Quality sound and great tracks Disadvantages: None. IT'S GREAT!
Fatboy Slim dosen't really make any sense but there music REALLY ROCKS! This album of Fatboy Slim was made 2006 and i've been looking for it for a while. First I was looking on the web on a website called CDWOW. I ordered it and you wouldn't believe how long it took to get to my postbox. 5 WEEKS! And then I seen it somewhere else. In a real shop - not online. And it was cheeper! But back to the review. It was a really good record. But its very rare.

Advantages: All the classics and bonus dvd! Disadvantages: A phew bad songs unfortunatley
I have owend this great album for a while now and its great, there are some good and bad things about it.
l'll start with the advantages, it has great songs, all the classics, it includes a bonus dvd with a list of 10 song videos by fat boy slim, including a best seller, ' Ya Mama '. But now unfortunatley to the negatives, the are songs on the album which are not the sort of songs you would want playing outloud when driving in your car, unless you ... ...so that it can be classed as an album, but then again the rest of the songs are soo good it all equals out!
Personally i love it, it has all my favorite fatboy slim songs on it. if you are one of the Fat Boy Slim loving fans then i strongly recomend this one for you lot out there, you cant go wrong with this one. ...

Advantages: Showcases some of Fatboy Slim's best work Disadvantages: Has a few duff songs
Put simply - this album is a must buy for any Fatboy slim fan. All the classic tracks are there and the wide range of songs on offer means that this CD should appeal to a wider audience too. Looking along the track listings most will be able to recognize at least a few titles with "Weapon of Choice", "Right Here Right Now" as well as the re-mixed version of Cornershop's "Brimful of Asha" all featuring. I wouldn't say every single on this album is ...

Advantages: All the classics Disadvantages: A couple of bad ones
Fatboy Slim's new album includes all the fantastic summer classic's which we have all heard over the years. This is a great album for listening whilst taking your car for a blast down some country lanes on a beautiful summer day. My personal favorites include Praise you and Right here, Right now. Even if you aren't familiar to the song names you will know the songs. Personally I hadn't heard of about 5 songs but as soon as I heard the rhythm I knew ... ...couple of tracks such as 'Slash dot dash' and 'That old pair of Jeans'. Obviously this might not be the case for everyone. I would urge all Fatboy Slim or music fans in general to go out there now and purchase this great album. It truly is the sound of summer! ...

Album Notes
After ten years of big beat mayhem, Norman Cook, former bassist with the Housemartins, presents his first greatest hits collection. From the raw, sample-laden sounds of his debut, through the polished, commercial releases that yielded his biggest hits, to the more organic, song-based work of late, this provides an excellent introduction to the career of a hugely popular and successful artist. Includes his remix of Cornershop's 'Brimful Of Asha' as well as the new single 'That Old Pair Of Jeans'.

On the limmited edition it has all the music videos on it as well! An excellent touch I think!
The cover is the only downside that I have found, it looks nice now but after time it's going to be a bit scruffy as it's made like a hard back book with no plastic covering. (*)
