Advantages: Showcases some of Fatboy Slim's best work Disadvantages: Has a few duff songs
Put simply - this album is a must buy for any Fatboyslim fan. All the classic tracks are there and the wide range of songs on offer means that this CD should appeal to a wider audience too. Looking along the track listings most will be able to recognize at least a few titles with "Weapon of Choice", "Right Here Right Now" as well as the re-mixed version of Cornershop's "Brimful of Asha" all featuring. I wouldn't say every single on this album is as good as the next - but then again that's because (like everyone) I've got my favorites. Overall its a very consistently good album and so that's reflected in my rating. For around £5 I'd definitely recommend its purchase, particularly as a music video DVD accompanies the main album CD. ...
Advantages: All the best songs in one place Disadvantages: Not worthwhile for the aged-old fan
channels and maybe it does get the odd bit of 'extra' airtime. (E.g. "Close To Me" being on a BBC Three programme...it's name escapes me, but it may have been the 'Smoking Room'? Answers on a postcard...)
Their 'greatesthits' album, released in 2001 through Fiction Records and only done so on the basis that Smith could choose the tracks himself is 19 tracks that show a chronological tale of the band and their music through the years. (Although two of the tracks are brand new!)
Opening track "Boys Don't Cry" was released in June 1979, eight years before I was born. Yet with it's instantly recognisable guitar riff it's something that the countless bands since then that have idolised and 'taken influence' from the Cure could take the rest of time to improve on. I believe the saying is along the lines of put some monkeys in a room ...
Advantages: All the classics Disadvantages: A couple of bad ones
FatboySlim's new album includes all the fantastic summer classic's which we have all heard over the years. This is a great album for listening whilst taking your car for a blast down some country lanes on a beautiful summer day. My personal favorites include Praise you and Right here, Right now. Even if you aren't familiar to the song names you will know the songs. Personally I hadn't heard of about 5 songs but as soon as I heard the rhythm I knew it instantly. However, I found a slight dislike for a couple of tracks such as 'Slash dot dash' and 'That old pair of Jeans'. Obviously this might not be the case for everyone.
I would urge all FatboySlim or music fans in general to go out there now and purchase this great album. It truly is the sound of summer! ...
