Only with White on Blonde did I really begin to appreciate Texas, and their follow up album, the Hush, was no disappointment.
It's hard to describe Texas really. The front woman, Sharleen Spiteri(I've spelt that wrong haven't I?), has an exceptionally clear voice, it's deep and sultry really, and accompanies the music the rest of the band play perfectly. The album does consist mostly of their recent hits, but starts of well with 'I don't want a lover...' which is my earliest recollection of the band. Hearing other hits that aren't off their last two albums shows a certain change in style, and for the better, although their earlier hits were by no means bad.
The inclusion of their two most recent songs(not on any other album) is also a real treat, because personally they are my favourite tracks ever released by the band(inner smile, and in demand).
You get 18 tracks on the album, which I enjoyed very thoroughly until the last one, which suddenly introduced some other singer, and r&b music and rapping and erghhh! It is infact a remix of Say what you want, a kind of strangled violin accompanies the voice of Sharleen, but God, am I glad there weren't more like this on the album. While interesting, it doesn't make the nice and easy listening that the rest of the album does.
