As The Verve once said "This Is Music". And, indeed this IS music. Real music. Even those that claim to have not heard of Thin Lizzy will almost certainly have heard the smash hit "The Boys Are Back In Town", and though lead singer Phil Lynott is no longer with us, Thin Lizzy's brilliance is still marvelled at by people today, such as myself.
Let me first explain what you get for your money (between £7 and £14 from what I've seen) you get two awesome CD's with (26) tracks like "Jailbreak" "Whiskey In The Jar" (the original, not the ruined-by-Metallica version, although Metallica do rule, they ruined the song methinks) and the immortal "The Boys are Back In Town". Thin Lizzy have a strong influence even over musicians of today: Many a time have I seen stars like Axl Rose, Slash and The Guitarist From The Darkness (Does anyone know his name? Or, Is it just me?) *Does a Google search to find out* Dan Hawkins wearing T-Shirts with the Thin Lizzy logo emblazoned across the front. Funny I mentioned The Darkness actually, because I saw them at Wembley in December, when Ash, who were supporting them decided to blast out a rendition of "The Boys Are Back In Town".
I recommend it, cheerful, catchy and well played instrument-wise. It's easy to listen to and is just purely good music. Even if you don't feel the urge to go out and buy this, I recommend that, if only for broadening your musical knowledge, you listen to the following tracks:
-The Boys Are Back In Town -Jailbreak -Whiskey In The Jar -Rosalie -Don't Believe A Word
Definitely worth a look for your average rock music fan (although it's not particularly heavy - Not a bad thing in my opinion, but hey).
