You have a mixture of soul shaking power ballads like Is This Love, Cryin' in the Rain and Now you're Gone which gives you the feeling that Coverdale has never been lucky in love! But then tracks like Slide it In, Slow ... ...think when he was in love, music wasn't the only thing that rocked! When you hear the music and listen to the lyrics, you'll know what I mean!

I am a huge Whitesnake fan, and always keen to remind people that Rock music isn't all earache and shouting down a microphone!
Whitesnake was started by a gorgeous Yorkshire lad David Coverdale in the early 70's, after he left Deep Purple as lead vocalist. Due to conflicts within the band Coverdale decided it was time for something new and Whitesnake was born.
From their first album Whitesnake have given us a good mix between Blues and Rock, but commerciality didn't really hit until the album Slide it in.

Buy it, listen to it. love it and play that air guitar!
Advantages: Both slow and faster songs Disadvantages: none
This album is one of the best Rock albums I have ever heard, it is full of emotion, a few ballads included in this one too! David Coverdale also has a very unique voice too, mysterious even, its really easy to fall into another world listening to this album, its a definate buy! If you like catchy rock songs that you can sing to and nod your head to this is the one!! "Is this love" is one of my favourites, a nice rock ballad if ever I heard one, also ...

Advantages: Contains a vast diversity of music from David Coverdale's post Deep Purple carrier Disadvantages: Nothing, unless you hate Whitesnake (and if you did you wouldn't be reading this)
Whitesnakes 30th Anniversary Collection appears to be a glorified greatesthit album. However it's more than this. Its 52 tracks contain live tracks, the original version of Here I Go Again, songs from David Coverdale's (DC's) album with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and of course songs from DC's solo work. The three CD's cover the carrier of DC after he left Deep Purple.
The first disc with tracks like Ready An' Willing and Fool For Your Loving (live) brings Whitesnakes blues element through to the listener beautifully. I would say the first disc is best of Whitesnakes blues.
The second CD contains the Coverdale Page songs as well as more live songs and a collection of Whitesnakehits. The third CD contains the song Best Years from Whitesnakes latest album and We Wish You Well the song Whitesnake wrote for their audiences but have ...

Album Notes
Personnel includes: David Coverdale (vocals); Micky Moody (electric & slide guitars); John Sykes, Mel Galley (guitar, background vocals); Dan Huff, Steve Vai (guitar); David Rosenthal, Don Airey, Bill Cuomo, Jon Lord, Claude Gaudette, Alan Pasqua (keyboards); Neil Murray, Rudy Sarzo (bass); Aynsley Dunbar, Denny Carmassi, Cozy Powell, Tommy Aldridge (drums); Tommy Funderburk, The Fabulosa Brothers, Richard Page, The Big 'Eads, Glenn Hughes (background vocals). Producers: Mike Stone, Keith Olsen, Martin Birch, Mike Clink. Includes liner notes by Sal Manna. Over the course of three albums (1984's SLIDE IT IN, 1987's WHITESNAKE, and 1989's SLIP OF THE TONGUE), Whitesnake became one of the '80s' biggest hard rock bands. The best tracks of the aforementioned albums serve as the basis for 1994's 14-track GREATEST HITS collection. Despite its many incarnations throughout the decade (macho singer David Coverdale being the only constant member), Whitesnake kept its game plan pretty constant--Led Zep-like rockers were followed by big power ballads, spelling massive chart success. Standouts here include the heavies "Still of the Night," "Love Ain't No Stranger," "Slow An' Easy," and "Fool For Your Loving," the softer "Is This Love," and tracks such as "Here I Go Again" that lie somewhere in the middle.
Album Reviews
Q (9/94, p. 131) - 3 Stars - Good - "...it all sounds sleek, sure-footed and curiously second-hand...it's a sensible cock-rock primer, but the repertoire falls well short of classical status..."
