Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page--during their 1963-68 existence, the group's best work came during Beck's '65-'66 tenure, which produced nearly all their hit singles and virtually everything found here. (Notable exception: their debut hit, "For Your Love," which Clapton was barely audible on anyway.) From the cat scratch fever of "I'm A Man" to the guitar-as-weapon solo in "Mister, You're a Better Man Than I," Beck rewrote the lead guitar textbook, and on one of the few songs recorded when he and Page were in the band together--"Happenings Ten Years Time Ago"--they foreshadowed the sound of '70s rock. --Billy Altman

He has released a phenomenal amount of albums with a number of different bands, including Derek and the Dominos and Cream. This compilation comprises some of his solo hits from 1984 to 1999. Advantages: Back In the Saddle, Dream On, Train Kept A Rollin Disadvantages: None
...This is yet another essential album for any Aerosmith fan. Comprimising the highlights from the 78/79 tours this shows the strains of the rock and roll lifestyle that they were living at the time. Each track wrenches out all the energy from them no more so than on BACK IN THE SADDLE - furiously fast paced rock and LORD OF THE THIGHS - one of the most brilliantly titled songs ever. DREAM ON is painfully beautiful perhaps showing an insight on how you can just survive on the music no matter how bad you're living. The old sounds of CHIP AWAY AT THE STONE reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac/Led Zeppelin fits in perfectly with the classic covers on this album from the Beatles' COME TOGETHER to the Yardbirds I AIN'T GOT YOU and TRAIN KEPT A ROLLIN.The live aspect gives this album atmostphere perhaps not their greatest performances but certainly rock...

Advantages: brilliant live Disadvantages: some sound glitches
...Eric Clapton is one of the most influential and progressive blues guitarists of all time. His career has been huge, and has managed to produce some groundbreaking solo albums, as well as very impressive earlier works, playing in bands Cream and the Yardbirds. This album showcases all of this in a terrific live show.
Claptons playing live is flawless. He manages to differ his playing from his studio work in way to suit being played live, and shows how his guitar playing has evolved since when some of the earlier numbers were written. Here he plays super-smooth cool hits like 'cocaine', and also some of his Cream songs, like 'badge' and 'white room'. This lyrics are uninspiring though, I'm afraid, but Clapton certainly makes up for it in his guitar playing. Even if you have all his studio albums, you should buy this to remind you to go...
