In the name of charity, Inspirations demands that you reach for your wallet. It's more ... more
likely, though, that the benefactors of this worthy project are not just generous souls with deep pockets, but are music fans in search of a nugget of rock history. The book came about when the Hits Under The Hammer Committee--a warm-hearted bunch of industry types--struck upon the idea of piecing together an impressive collection of unique lyric sheets, each one specially personalised by their author to sell at auction, with proceeds going to disabled charities and music therapy centres. Inspirations, the book, is a printed record of their haul. Some of it, sadly, is rather uninspiring--Phil Collins, in his immense generosity, has taken three minutes out of his busy schedule to scrawl the lyrics to "Invisible Touch" on a scrap of A4 paper--but there are a few artefacts here that must surely have raised a bomb: the electric heater graffitied with the lyrics to the Prodigy's "Firestarter", a pint glass emblazoned with the lyrics to The Stereophonics' "The Bartender And The Thief", or the strait jacket inked with the lyrics to Aerosmith's "Crazy". Each piece is accompanied with a brief history detailing what exactly inspired the song, and featuring quotes from the artists. As with the auction, profits from the book go to Norwood Ravenswood and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, so with Inspirations, you'll know that your hard-earned pennies are going to a good cause. Baby Spice bought a front door scrawled with the lyrics to Madness' "Our House" and Hits Under The Hammer are still fund-raising, so you'd better get in there quick. --Louis Pattison

...album, groups some of their greatest songs ever written, hence the title. True to their word this is exactly what they have done. Tracks taken from many of their previous albums and a couple of B-sides thrown in. Melodies, which will have you in fits of laughter and singing along. 1 CD, 27 songs. If you get a chance to have a listen, then make sure you have the album in your hands. I don't suggest you try and listen to it 'in-store'. Take it home ... more
I cheated, that is the name of one of their albums.
Oooh! Ooh! Ooh! My kind of music! Funny, I looked here the other day and didn't see any albums by NOFX. For those of you out there who have never heard of them, its not surprising since this band revolutionized the meaning of being Punk rockers. And punk rock is what they do best. Sod the NME interviews and the MTV videos. If you want to find out about this band you need to be in the know. Or pop to a HMV store. I found that to be rather odd. 'Sell out' band? Well, not really but in a modern society of Capitalism, how else do you sell your wares?
NOFX … no talent to quote one of their recordings. Not at all! These American's have hit the modern day problems of being a teenager (27 year olds) on the head of the bent nail. I started to listen to these tunes as far back as I can remember listening to them. I was a student who, had no time for politics (I studied politics at Uni), no time for modern day living problems (I was trying to cope with it). So what has this got to do with the music. If you grew up listening to The Who or The Clash, then social problems are not uncommon to you. Enter generation X (me)and what you get is NOFX. A band who are constantly challenging the whole concept of our way of living. Save the whales? Capitalist rule under the Bush admin. Social problems, read Naom chomsky, watch Michel Moore and you'll get a better insight.
J.Goebbels would be having a field day if he were still alive. NOFX puts the wrongs to rights!
NOFX, a punk band from the (divided) States of America. Wonderfully well written songs that make you want to be part of the nation state. Vote and interact with our modern society problems. Not only that but they have fun whilst doing it. These guys have produced some of the best punk rock albums during the 1990's. They also promote new talent under their record label FAT wreakcord. All this at affordable prices for the generation who are susceptible to listen to them

Make a difference!
For any music fan this is a must in their collection.
Advantages: It has all of their greatest songs, which is a lot Disadvantages: It may have a lot of their amazing songs, but not all of them
...album combines all of NOFX greatest songs, sadly not all of them though, but they can't fit all of them on. With Fat Mikes raw singing voice that has changed over the years, the amazing fast guitar riffs and solos, the band is still amazing and popular as ever. With songs like 'Linoleum', 'Separation Of Church And Skate', 'Stickin' In My Eye', 'Leave It Alone' and many more great songs, this is a must have album for any punk fan. The songs are great ...

Advantages: get a bit of every album. Disadvantages: They have missed off liza and louise which i think should be on there.
...NOFX's favorite songs. Unlike most greatest hits this one is actually decided by the band not the record company so you have all there favorite songs. They have recorded one new song for this album which is entitled worn out soles of my party boots. This song is looking back on his lifestyle and him analyzing it in a humorous way. The rest of the album is full of fun fast paced punk rock which has NOFX's unique twist. The cd booklet itself is quite ...
