I enjoy most types of music, although i prefer indie etc. I also take part in the running of a promotion business for small bands and a small recording facility, as well as being in a band myself....basically i'm into most things musical!

Never a person to dissapoint, this album offers a brilliant insight into the lyrical and musical talent that is Ian Brown, presenting some of his most renound tracks such as "F.E.A.R" and "My Star" in a well produced collection.
The clear and obvious upside to this CD is the fact that it not only summarises Ian Brown's uncommon genre of music and taste, but it also provides a contemporary twist on what could be considered tracks worthy of his former band, The Stone Roses.
The music on this CD is most definately creative, with a wide variety of instruments and mechanically engineered sounds implemented into many of the tracks. This could be considered a bad point by many people but in this instants it is a passable act because of the way the tracks have been recorded and layered in the studio.
A slightly negative attribute of Ian Brown's Greatest Hits is the large track number. This is theoretically good because it offers more music for your money, but when the influences and style of the music is so strict, it can become a bit repetitive.
The cover sleeve is another let down of this CD, where one might expect pages of lyrics and insightful illustrations, this simply has a an assortment of photographs highlighting some of the up-points in Ian Brown's career. If you are the sort of person that likes to slowly read through the cover sleeve whilst listening to the tracks, this is not an album for you.
Overall though, this album does manage to create enough inquizative originality in its style to justify purchasing it: where it may be lacking aesthetically, it makes up for in its well maintainted tone and rhythms...lyrically speaking its not to bad either.
The track list for this album is as follows:
My Star Corpses In Their Mouths Can't See Me (Bacon & Quarmby Remix) Be There (Ian Brown) (Unkle) Love Like A Fountain (Single Version) Dolphins Were Monkeys (Single Version) Golden Gaze (Single Version) F.E.A.R. Whispers Forever And A Day (New Version) Keep What Ya Got Time Is My Everything Longsight M13 Reign (Ian Brown) (Unkle) Lovebug (New Version) All Ablaze Return Of The Fisherman

I'm not too familiar with Ian Brown myself, but I'll have to check it out now. Nice review, not too long or full of unneccessary info, just tells people what they want to know

Good review, I'm not into this guy much but "Fool's Gold" is a brilliant song.

That was quite cleverly written for a newcomer to the site and if you can write reviews this good on your first day, you have a future here. The only failure to my mind was that I was not informed enough of the style of music and had no more idea after I read it than I did before what style this guy sings.
