Gregson-Williams: (The) Replacement Killers

Advantages: Mostly pleasant listening and has some quite good ideas
Disadvantages: But when it comes to execution falters down into generic blandness

...movies that should (and do) have wonderful musical accompaniments that evoke the strange enviroments they are supposed to represent. When things don't go exactly how we expect them to, then it will cause some head scratching. And this is what Harry Gregson-Williams' score for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe made me do. The first cinematic adaptation of C.S. Lewis Narnia novels, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the story of the four Pevensie children Lucy, Edmund, Peter and Susan, who are forced to evacuate from wartime London in 1940 to the calmer countryside mansion of a relative of theirs, Professor Kirke. While playing hide and seek one day in the house, Lucy happens to hide inside a wardrobe and soon finds herself transported to the fantasy land of Narnia. Advantages: Easy listening and romantic
Disadvantages: Too bland for everyones taste

Harry Gregson-Williams - Bridget's Theme So as you can see you have a really good mix of golden oldies and also some covers done for the film and also some totally new stuff just for this film. I love the oldies, who can't but like Barry White and Carly Simon. But add Misunderstood with Robbie, the beautiful and amazing voice of Joss Stone and the dynamic Jamie Callum and i think that this is just a lovely album. I always feel when i listen to this that everything will be fine. It is an album to read a book to. It is an album that you can have on when friends are over. It is entertaining, and you can sing... Harry Gregson-Williams - Bridgets Theme As it is the soundtrack to a romantic comedy, as you would expect most of the songs have a slightly mushy edge to them...so if thats not your kind of thing...... Having said that there are some absolute classics in there as well as some relatively new songs. I tend to prefer the classics such as Barry White and Aretha Franklin, but the newer songs are just as good. I really like Mary J.Blige's cover of Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word, it has very little backing music, so in a way is almost accoustic, but not quite, it does, however... Read review
