≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈ GROUND FORCE – BLACK DYKE BAND ≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈

Ground Force has long been one of my favourite TV programmes. With a keen interest in gardening and landscaping there is nothing more enjoyable than sitting down to watch Ground Force.
Imagine if you can take that enjoyment a step further and extend it to times other than when Ground Force is on television. Of course you could go out and buy a few series on DVD…………. Or you can buy the soundtrack on CD.

I bought the Ground Force soundtrack around five years ago and it has remained one of my favourite CD’s to listen to, particularly when I am feeling a bit stressed or tired. It is very easy listening and relaxing and at the same time as creating such an air or serenity, you also subconsciously reminisce over the programmes from the series.

≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈ THE JEWEL CASE ≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈

The Ground Force Soundtrack comes in an attractively and cunningly designed case with a basic background resembling grass and the sky. There is a picture on the front of Charlie Dimmock, Tommy Walsh and Alan Titchmarsh together with the Black Dyke Band who perform the songs.

≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈ THE SONGS ≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈

There are nineteen songs on the album in total and they all come from the BBC Series. Any avid fan of Ground Force would easily recognise many of these songs by ear, although they might not necessarily know the names. I will give a summary of a few of my favourite the songs on the album below but I seriously recommend you buy this album if you are interested in Ground Force or if you like relaxing lyric-free music.

♪—♫——♫—♪ 01: Ground Force ♪—♫——♫—♪

This is the signature tune of Ground Force. The catchy opening tune from the series which surely everyone must have heard of. The combination of rhythms and brass instruments create a joyful flowing song which reverberates around in your head until you really cannot let go of the tune.

♪—♫——♫—♪ 04: The Titchmarsh Warbler ♪—♫——♫—♪

This song is remarkably different from most on the album in that the rhythm is very fast and must have been remarkably difficult to play. Again, this is another joyful song which is sure to fill you with happiness and glee. Mid-way through the song the rhythm drops so slow and quiet that you can hardly hear it, but all of a sudden the tempo picks back up and we are back to the original rhythm. A great song!

♪—♫——♫—♪ 08: Hornet’s Nest ♪—♫——♫—♪

As the name of this song suggests, it has been written in such a way tat it really sounds like a wasps nest. You can really conjure up a mental image of busy wasps and bees going about their business. Another fantastic song with an enchanting rhythm that sticks in your head.

♪—♫——♫—♪ 13: Hay Fever ♪—♫——♫—♪

I love this song. Such a bobbing little rhythm to it that I find really calming and thought-provoking. I also particularly love the bass on this song, one of the few times that a fitting bass line comes into one of the Ground Force songs and it really livens it up. I think they should have made this song the first one on the album to save me keep flicking through for this one!

♪—♫——♫—♪ 15: Badger Patrol ♪—♫——♫—♪

This song starts with a haunting drum beating which then combines with a chilling melody which encapsulates the mind and absorbs you into the song. As the song progresses the rhythm becomes more and more thrilling and it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!

≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈ IN SUMMARY ≈♫♪≈♪≈♫♪≈

That concludes a more detailed look at some of the tracks and I hope I have really given you an idea of what the album is like. It is very difficult to describe music that doesn’t have any words and so I just hope that you will go out and buy this album so that you can see for yourself how magical and wonderful it really is.
