...A few years ago, when this was first released, and Setting Sun (a highlight of the album) got to number one, I hated this music - I was eleven at the time! However, a couple of years later, I love it! I bought this album because I had the excellent Surrender, and my friends told me that I should get Dig Your Own Hole. Being impressionable, I did. I made a good choice, after all. The album starts on a forceful note with 'Block Rocking Beats', a song with a powerful beat and strong bass, punctuated by shouts of 'Back with another one of those block rocking beats!'. The fifth track, and the one with the most commerical success, which looking back, well deserved a number one position. To be honest, from first listing Setting Sun sounds, well, odd. .... The Chemical Brothers had gone global, and they hadn't even started putting their best material together yet. Other high points include Electrobank, and the amazing Setting Sun. Which bizarrely included a little known guitarist with a tinny voice, who they managed to catapult into the big time. OK I am being silly now. But the album became bigger than the band had imagined and set the path for their remix album, and the third studio album, Surrender. As the album sold by the bucket load the production requests rolled in and the band put mixes down for St Etienne, Primal Scream, the Charlatans, the Manics. Hold on, a second, none of those bands are dance. Get it, the Chems' as they like to be known, were using their production skills to overcome the lacking areas of indie and rock. Advantages: Block rokin

...Back with another one of those block rocking beats! This album dig your own hole is a classic must have album, I only realised ther standing in the dance world after this album and its great, and as the song says they are constantly, back with another one of those block rocking beats! There is so much origionality here its hard to define any track to a particular style, setting sun is a highltght with a certain gallacher brother supplyng the vocals, I would definitely buy this album even if it were just to use as a coaster cos the cd its self looks nice!...
