Advantages: A brilliant, brilliant, reunion album. The Bangles are bang on target Disadvantages: None
...The four-girl group from Los Angeles that was to become the Bangles started out in 1981as ‘The Bangs’. Over the course of the next six years they were responsible for two platinum rated albums (“Different Light” and “Everything”) and a string of memorable hit singles (“Manic Monday”, “Walk Like An Egyptian” and “Eternal Flame”). The line up, all of whom shared the vocals, consisted of Susanna Hoffs (guitar), Michael Steele (bass guitar - previously lead singer with Joan Jett) and the sisters Debbie (drums) and Vicki Peterson (guitar). In the immediate post-punk era their brand of sharp, jangling, punchy rock rhythm was a breath of fresh air.
Back then, what red-blooded male could not resist a secret hankering after one (or all) of these rocking, raunchy beauties. It is probably predictable that their looks – and stage act – would...

Advantages: A lot of tracks, very good variety of tempo and rhythms Disadvantages: Some of it very girl power (not for men so much)
...I bought this for my girlfriend because i know she loves the Pussy Cat Dolls (PCD). They are the american Girls Aloud (sort of) after all.
I never listened to their old albums, just the songs that they released as they were on the radio, and I liked some, but not all.
So this was released on the 22nd September as PCD's latest offereing, named "Doll Domination". Quite a good title i thought.
Anyway, lets get on with the music.
1. When I Grow Up.
This is a great track to start the album off I thought. It has been released as a single and it was incredibly catchy then. When you put on the CD and this opens up, it really drags you in. Not really a song for a guy (actually, this whole cd isn't for a guy really) but I like it.
2. Bottle Pop
This features Snoop Dogg. Absoluetly horri. I've not listened past 30 secs because...

Advantages: great continuation from previous work Disadvantages: does lack punch on certain tracks
...Having previously reviewed 'Dizzy Up The Girl' I thought I would have a go at another one of my favs 'Gutterflower'. 'Gutterflower' is Bufallo's Goo Goo Dolls most recent release, having been released in 2002 (or in 2001 on import). Whereas it does stand up to previous albums it does lack the typical Goo's sound on certain songs. The stand-out song is without a doubt 'Here Is Gone', a typical Goo Goo Dolls' melodic stormer which reached the dizzy heights of the US singles charts in 2002.
The thing that makes this different from any other Goo's album, is the fact that it was being recorded during frontman John Rzeznik's divorce, prompting a much more emotional feel to the lyrics and overall sound of the album, which can be seen as both a good and bad thing, depending on your stance toward their music prior to 'Gutterflower'. I believe...
