flirt with pomposity, and perform the odd grand gesture. Watching Muse's live CD/DVDH.A.A.R.P--recorded over two nights in June 2007--you're left wondering if Wembley is quite big enough to hold them. From the grand opening, when Muse ascend from an underground chamber and walk down a central ramp flanked by men in yellow chemical splash suits to Matt Bellamy's lengthy, florid turns at the grand piano, no opportunity is missed to makeH.A.A.R.Pseem anything less than a spectacle. Shot in high definition, the camera-work is as snappy and dynamic as any movie blockbuster, with special attention to the crowd, who are picked out with sometimes breathtaking detail. Fans may gripe over the tracklisting--the DVD has been edited down, meaning four tracks, including "Bliss" have been left on the cutting floor-but casuals should be satisfied with the selection: there's the hits ("Supermassive Black Hole", "Knights of Cydonia") and on the DVD, a noble rendition of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good".--Louis Pattison

I have been a Muse fan since 2003 and the release of "Absolution". I have since seen them live 7 times, including the 16th June 2007 at Wembley Stadium.
So, as you would gather, I was looking forward to this DVD for a long long time. It was originally supposed to come out last November, and got pushed back to 17th March 08. It comes in a standard double CD case, rather than a DVD case. You'll find this on the music album charts, rather than the DVD shelves. It contains a CD from the 16th June and a DVD from the 17th. Prices vary depending on where you buy it from. Your best bet is probably Play.com - free delivery and only £10.99. Well worth the money.
Let's start with the menu: You can "Play all", or select a track, view the gallery, or view various settings. Pressing "Play all", we see an overhead shot of the stadium, taken by helicopter on the night. This then cuts to the middle of the stadium where Muse are making an impressive entrance to the sound of "Prokofiev: Dance of the Knights". They come up on a lift in the middle of the crowd, with a shower of confetti filling the stadium.
The entrance is all very well but what about the performance itself? You won't be disappointed. Let's have a look at the track listing:
Intro Knights Of Cydonia Hysteria Supermassive Black Hole Map Of The Problematique Butterflies And Hurricanes Hoodoo Apocalypse Please Feeling Good Invincible Starlight Improv Time Is Running Out New Born Soldiers Poem Unintended Blackout Plug In Baby Stockholm Syndrome Take A Bow
The band play a blinding set throughout, putting their heart and soul into every song. Highlights are "Knights of Cydonia", "Hoodoo", "Starlight", "Soldiers Poem", "Blackout" and of course, "Stockholm Syndrome". "Soldiers Poem" looks beautiful with everyone holding their mobile phones in the air. It almost brought a tear to my eye at the real gig, and watching the DVD just brings those memories back. Anyone who wasn't there will undoubtedly be impressed.
The deluxe edition features some extra footage (around 10 mins) of the band before they go on stage, and it comes in a prettier box with some postcards. I don't personally think it's worth the extra money, as you can probably watch the footage on a certain video site, cough cough.
The gallery is a nice feature, with some shots of the band throughout the show, played to "Sing for Absolution" (live).
I have neglected the CD a bit throughout this review, which is because it contains nearly the same tracks as the DVD except obviously just sound. The full tracklist is: Intro Knights Of Cydonia Hysteria Supermassive Black Hole Map Of The Problematique Butterflies And Hurricanes Invincible Starlight Time Is Running Out New Born Unintended Microcuts Stockholm Syndrome Take A Bow
My only criticisms of the whole thing are the fact it is missing a few tracks which were played on the night, including "City of Delusion" and "Bliss" (the latter being played whilst giant balloons filled with confetti bounced round the stadium - definitely a sight to see and very disappointing to not have it on the DVD). "City of Delusion" was included when pre-ordering from iTunes but this is no longer available. I'd also have liked a bit more extra footage, like the Hullabaloo DVD. Unfortunately the DVD is not available in High Definition. Before it was released, there were some screenings at Vue cinemas in the UK (which I attended) where it was blasted out in HD and stereo sound.
So, in conclusion this is a brilliant, brilliant DVD, whether you're an avid Muse fan or just a casual listener. The effort they put into the show is astounding. BUY IT! For a CD/DVD it's a bargain as well.
Advantages: Great quality audio and video to be watched over and over! Disadvantages: quite a few tracks missing on the cd compared to the dvd
...17 March 2008. HAARP was derived from the american investigation project called the 'High Frequency Active Aural Research Program' nothing much to say about that really except it was a period where lots of antennas were put up which does explain the number of antennas and satellite dishes on the stage during their performance! Advantages: Brilliant you can feel the atmosphere that was inside the stadium on the day Disadvantages: Plug In Baby doesn't feature on the CD
Muse live at Wembley was probably the best gig I have ever been to, having seen them twice already I had high expectations and they still managed to blow me away, so you can imagine my delight when they finally released this CD/DVD.
Disc one is simply a CD of some of the songs they performed. From the beginning to end you can almost feel the atmosphere there was in the stadium over the two days.
Muse pull out all the stops and the CD kicks off ... ...normal from Wembley Stadium. Throughout the CD you can feel the passion in the songs. The best track on the album for me has to 'Unintended', the song is quite an old one but is such an emotional song and you can feel the emotion that was running through the stadium on the day.
The second disc is a DVD of the performance, again on the DVD you can feel the atmosphere as almost 100,000 people go absolutely mental when Muse start with Knights of Cydonia.

Advantages: Muse at their best, almost all their great hits, 'Best live band' Captured perfectly Disadvantages: The need to buy the cd to recieve the dvd.
Capturing the Wembley atmosphere essence perfectly this dvd is a fantastic follow up to their previous award winning hullaballoo. Countless cameras allow the viewer to feel as if they were at the concert, ontop of this we see Matt playing some of Muses' most famous songs, including extended versions additional solos and a great set up.
The Cd is also amazing, for either a first muse album or to add to your collection of them all, it offers some ...

Quick review of HAARP (Live From Wembley/+DVD) - Muse Review ofHAARP (Live From Wembley/+DVD) - Museby

Yet another otherwise perfectly good album ruined by the loudness war, over compression and near constant clipping of the sound means that unless your one of those chavs who likes to listen to music through a mobile on the bus then, don't bother with it,

Advantages: Great for those wishing to relive the gig, good for those wishing they were there Disadvantages: Would be good as a double CD/DVD rather than two seperate commodities
This CD is valued to those who were at the Wembley gig last year, where history was made as Muse were the first band to play at the all new Wembley stadium. I was not there, but still I have this recording of the two gigs that took place there and cannot deny that the atmosphere that projects through the CD makes me wish I was there. Muse are a band that sound amazing live, their albums do not do them justice to the show that you whiteness when seeing ... ...New Born, Starlight, Knights of Cydonia, and even some of the oldies that are not reprieved that often. All in all, I believe it's a must have for those who were there and an essential for those who weren't to get a glimmer of what all the fuss was about. Highly recommended. ...

Additional notes
Album Notes: With a title that nods to frontman Matthew Bellamy's scientific obsessions, H.A.A.R.P. (which stands for "High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program") presents the U.K. alt-rock act Muse in concert at London's Wembley Stadium. Much of the set list is drawn from 2006's acclaimed BLACK HOLES & REVELATIONS, with standout tracks including the sweepingly cinematic "Knights of Cydonia" and the slinky, sinister "Supermassive Black Hole."
