...With their sixth studio album, Radiohead faced the unenviable task of sticking to their guns and producing an album which fitted in with their reputation of mutating musicians, while retaining the quality of their previous work. After all the fuss over the transition between OK Computer and Kid A, it would have been quite the let down for the boys to rest on their laurels and turn out a half-measured piece. Hail to Radiohead
Review of Hail To The Thief - Radiohead by  miss_you_so_1

Advantages: lyrics
Disadvantages: "difficult" to listen to

..."Hail to the Thief" is Radiohead's sixth Parlophone album and their latest. As any fan of the band will know their style changes dramatically with every album they produce. "Hail to the Thief" is in some ways a more mixed up album. Whereas "The Bends", "Amnesiac" and "Kid A" stick very firmly to such a well defined style, "Hail to the Thief" can feel like a bundle of surprises. The first track of the album, "2+2=5" is one of the most immersive through use of a catchy guitar riff and a lead up to a driving force that hits the listener half way through and keeps your foot tapping until the end. The easiest track to listen to for a newcomer to the band would probably be the single "There There" as it is probably the closest Radiohead would like to get to mainstream. Hail to the Thieves.
Review of Hail To The Thief - Radiohead by  Sercorer

Advantages: Everything Radiohead have done so far mixed in a bowl with herbs and mushrooms.
Disadvantages: After this there is nothing else worth listening to, except more Radiohead.

...the feeling Radiohead are the Surrealists of our era, understood and appreciated by a cult following and misrepresented in public opinion as depressing and pretenscious. I think it is fair to say that whatever your opinion of Radiohead may be it would be a fool who said they were anything less than musical genius's, and incidently have be awarded Best Band in the Universe four years in a row now. In actual fact it might be three years but none the less an impressive dominance dont you think? So what now? Hail to the Thief is Radiohead's fifth official album, but if you include Live Recordings (2001) and My Iron Lung (1994-5?), I guess its their eigth. And what an eigth. This album combines the classic rock sound of the early Radiohead with the new electronic, composistional, experimental madness of the more recent years. It is important... Read review
