Advantages: Unparalleled playing, Unbelievably good bargain for 6 CDs!
Disadvantages: Um, paper sleeves? No, seriously, it's great

...This box set comprises recordings from 1985-89, when Horowitz was 81 years old! In 1986 Horowitz returned to Russia after 60 years away to give his monumental Moscow recital of which the live recording is included in this set. I personally find this performance of Liszt's Sonetto 104 del Petrarca to be the finest ever recorded. Alongside this is Scarlatti, Mozart, Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Schumann, Chopin, Moszkowski, and Schubert. Accompanying this recital is 5 other discs of outstandingly unique playing. As he got older, Horowitz's playing became a sort of caricature of itself in the nicest possible way. By this I mean, his dynamics became more extreme, he became more expressive than ever, and his sense of style was heightened to new levels. Horowitz's Mozart playing has been criticized for being too free and not in Mozart... Read review

ARRR! Fifteen Zimmer's on the Composer's Chest

Advantages: More mature take on the Caribbean series
Disadvantages: It's still largely garbage

...Sparrow on a quest to find the chest in order to avoid some major misfortunes due to a debt he owes to Davy (played by Bill Nighy), while the twosome of Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) are also after Jack after being coerced by a conniving police sergeant Cutler Beckett to get a compass from Jack that points to that same treasure. What ensues is action, special effects, action, action, supernatural special effects and action. Musically the first film was an outright mess. With Alan Silvestri being dismissed as unsuitable as the film's composer, Bruckheimer turned to his familiar Media Ventures/Remote Control studio of composers led by Hans Zimmer and who turned out a rushed out product in a few weeks time that borrows heavily from the organization's previous action scores. The first score indeed was a disaster... Read review

It is currently setting up safe play areas for children in this region and is also active in Africa and Chechnya, particularly in Landmine education and clearance. The idea behind the recording is that on September 4th 1995 all the bands involved went into a studio and recorded their song, which had to be less than 3 minutes 45 seconds. The recording had to be completed and the track delivered to Go –disc by the end of that day, any failing to meet this deadline were excluded from the cd, although from memory a single of late comers was also released. The album was then compiled, and issued within a week becoming the fastest selling cd... Read review
