Advantages: Fun show, lovely stories, great for toddlers, short episodes Disadvantages: None
of the whole series as well so it was a good DVD for me to have chosen. Oh, and in case you recognised her voice, yes it is Jane Horrocks who voices both the lead character Fifi and also Primrose too, and she does make me laugh throughout the show, but she really is a perfect 'Fifi'!
The first episode is the DVD's title episode, Fifi's HappyDay. The flowertots in the garden decide to throw Fifi a party for being so helpful to them and such a good friend, and Primrose sets about delegating jobs to Fifi's friends for the party. Things don't quite go to plan, but the Flowertots manage to have a super party anyhow, and Fifi once again manages to save the day. Episode 2 is Knitting Nonsense, another episode revolving about Fifi and Primrose, my 2 favourites in the show. Primrose is doing some knitting but when she puts it down, an accident happens ...
Advantages: great recipe ideas which anyone can try Disadvantages: not as many vegetarian ideas as might appeal to some
Following the succes of the Naked Chef and the Return of the Naked Chef both of which I own and often refer to I didn't hesitate to buy Jamie Oliver's new book 'HappyDays'. I was instantly pleased to see that this followed the same style as his other books in that you as the cook were made to feel that you could easily tackle any one of these recipes and having now tried a good many, would say I have not been disappointed.
'The return of the naked chef' tended to repeat similar recipes to the first book - paricularly in the risotto and dessert section. However I was pleased to see that this was not so often the case in this book.
The book is divided into 15 food sections as follows:
Herbs:
Not that impressive - only a page with little detail. This was covered beter in 'return of the naked Chef'.
Comfort Grub:
Loved this ...
Advantages: Great nostalgia! Disadvantages: No extras.

This is a great chance for anyone who was too young to watch at the time when they were first aired (like me) to find out some of the background and history of the HappyDays gang.
For example, did you know that when the series first started there were actually THREE Cunningham kids? Yep, Richie and Joanie had an older brother named Chuck, who was at college. I didn't know this because I only started watching around Season Four, so I was absolutely amazed to see this character. He featured quite regularly in Seasons One and Two but then, strangely, was never heard of again. Apparently, there is a famous outtake from the final episode (Joanie ...
