I would say it is an album that grows on you and while I wouldn't say it's Madonna's best ever,it's definitely not her worst either.
These are the tracks on the standard edition of the album,and my opinions on them(not including the bonus track Ring My Bell which could be pre ordered on itunes or the 3 remix's included in the deluxe edition):
1.Candy Shop-At first listen I thought that this was one of my favourite tracks,but now I think compared to the other's it'll actually quite boring and bland.
2.4 Minutes(feat Justin Timberlake & Timbaland)-This was of course the first single to be released from this album and I think it one of the best songs on it! It really grows on you!
3.Give It 2 Me-Brilliant song,and I believe it is the next single!It is so catchy I can't stop listening to it.
4.Heartbeat-I didn't like this at first,but now I think it's a stand out song,very catchy and original sound.
5.Miles Apart-This is one of my favourite songs right now,I can't stop listening to it. It's quite slow compared to the other songs but has brilliant lyrics.
6.She's Not Me- I adore the beat of this song and it has good lyrics too.One of the best songs of the album.It does go on WAY too long though!
7. Incredible-I like this at the beginning of the song but then I think it gets a bit slow and boring. Good to listen to on a hot summers day though.
8.Beat Goes On(Feat Kanye West)- This song is amazing!Madonna & Kanye sound great together and I just want to get up and dance when this song comes on!
9.Dance 2night-This one is okay,but nothing spectacular,it sounds a bit like an old Madonna song,but it's more upbeat and modern.
10. Spanish Lesson-In my opinion,the WORST song on the album.It's annoying,patronising and it's just not catchy enough.
11. Devil Wouldn't Recognise You-A lot of people seem to love this song,but I really don't see why. I find the sound quite boring and it doesn't stand out at all for me.
12. Voices-This song is okay,although nothing special.
Overall,I actually think I prefer this album to Confessions at the moment but whether it will stand the test of time like some other Madonna classics remains to be seen.
Advantages: Pue Madonna Disadvantages: Over-produced at times
...reminiscent of her previous work, Hard Candy is testament to Madonna's ever-evolving musical style. A downside to the album is that some of the tracks are over-produced, which detracts from Madonna's vocals. All in all this is excellent alum, with a worthy 9/10.
Tracks:
1) Candy Shop Although this song drips of irony, I thought it was rather banal. Furthermore, I think it is a pretty poor choice for opening an otherwise excellent album. That said, ... ...My favourite song from Hard Candy, by a mile and a half. It has ironic lyrics, and a beat that will have you dancing around like a fool. The throbbing baseline is nothing less than addictive, and rivals Hung Up in the anthem stakes. I imagine this should be the second single. 10/10
4) Heartbeat This is another great song with a very catchy beat. This song displays the beauty of Madonna's voice, and whilst she is no Mariah or Whitney, there is a ...

...is an example of why Hard Candy is such a solid pop album. One of the most interesting aspects of the album that has gone relatively unnoticed is that recently graduated Kanye West also throws himself on to a track with the woman that graduated thirty years back, for 'Beat Goes On'. Unfortunately the track sounds about two years too late, having said that if you liked music in 2006 and/or are diehard Kanye then you should appreciate this. I'm slightly ... ...unfair comparison however. Hard Candy is a celebration that proves Madonna can still cut it no matter what her age, and although this is unlikely to turn anyone that was never a fan, this is pop perfection. The album tops itself off with 'Voices', where the beat sounds everso slightly like something off a Mark Ronson project. The introduction is dull, 'Spanish Lesson' is oddball, but for every gap there is at least three minutes of interest. Another ...

Following on from 'Confessions on a Dancefloor'. Madonna has delivered another great album packed with catchy tunes. Unlike many albums out there, I honestly think 8 of the tracks are fantastic and could be released as singles. 'Devil wouldn't recognise you' is a good old-fashioned Madonna pop song with an R&B feel. 'Give it 2 me' is incredibly catchy but the rapping bit is just strange! 'Voices', 'Heartbeat' and 'Beat goes on' are full of deep base ... ...a feel-good album and will no doubt get you moving. The Oakenfold remix of 'Give it 2 me' is excellent and I also enjoyed the remix of '4 minutes' on there, which I preferred to the Timberland remix (which wastes over a minute with Timberland going 'i only got 4 minutes'!!!). Although overall the album has more of an R&B than many Madonna fans would be used to, I find this album very similar to 'Confessions on a Dancefloor'. I think what would have ...

...This is 2008 and Hard Candy certainly returns Madonna to the throne of Queen on Pop with a little added crunch. Although I never thought she got off the throne.
This is also the 1st time that she's taken a back seat and not produced anything on her album. Instead she has gotten in Timbaland, Timberlake and Pharrel to name a few, which have helped the appeal of this album a greta deal.
My favourite songs are: 4 Minutes, Give It 2 Me, She's Not You ... ...the Queen of Pop but the 1st half of this album is better than the 2nd.
I am sure that Hard Candy will be in your list of Top Albums of 2008 and is a must have for every music collection as Madonna is one of the best around. ...

...I am a die hard madonna fan, who has always absolutely loved all of her stuff, but I just can't get into Hard Candy. I don't know whether it is because I am not a lover of R&B but I find that the songs lack meaning, have no heart or soul, no real tune to speak of (except 4 minutes which is about the only track that I can listen to), they just seem to meandre along with no proper structure to them, with Madonna wailing along in the background. HARD CANDY continues in the driving, club-oriented vein of 2005's CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR, proving that Madonna has lost none of her energy and verve with age. In terms of material, in fact, HARD CANDY bests its predecessor, and the artist continues to make herself relevant in the 2000s by adding distinctly hip-hop grooves to her increasingly electronica-driven sound. Remarkably, the result never sounds like a blatant commercial appeal. As with nearly everything she's done, this groove-heavy disc is distinctly Madonna's own. The Material Girl sculpted her sound this time out by hiring some of the hottest producers on the scene, including Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell and the Neptunes. Cuts like the lead-off single, "4 minutes" (a duet with Timberlake), and the thumping, sexy title track sparkle with a contemporary club feel, begging listeners to turn it up and shake it. Yet Madonna's classic pop sensibilities are far from lost in the mix. "Beat Goes On" recalls vintage singles like "Holiday"; "Heartbeat" is sleek, singalong Europop; and "Miles Away" is a love song that rides a sweet midtempo groove. Fun, danceable, and infectious, HARD CANDY is another winner from one of pop's all-time icons.
