When this 'Progress' album was released in 2001, the type of music that RX Bandits produce was greatly popular and in order to try and capitalise on the success of the Ska Punk genre the band here released a more pop heavy album than they ever had done before or in fact have done since. Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish were always the leading names in the scene, RX Bandits failed to ever catapult to that sort of level of fame however but nonetheless ...
...and dedicated fan base. 'Progress' was not a great commercial success, nor did it receive any real rave reviews from the leading names in the press, it is however an excellent album from the band and one that I personally have a great love of. Fittingly beginning with an introduction track titled simply 'Intro', never does this 'Progress' album disappoint and always in fact it impresses hugely. Paradise Lost, the sole creaters of Gothic Metal, have after 17 years of being together have produced their tenth studio album. The whole album is very good, the single Forever After is the only track that seems out of place, much more lets run about and have lots of energy rather than the melacholy you would expect from such goth gods. Advantages: Kirk's Solos back, songs more varied and better than St Anger, a couple of epics.
Disadvantages: Not as good as some over-the-top reviewers have said.

...also a stand-out song on Death Magnetic, in some ways, it's sad to see them take such a move away from the old Unforgivens, however what they have created is outstanding. Despite some good quality songs on this record, there are a few that aren't bad, but turn into a drag when your listening to them. ...most fans would agree that the absence of the guitar solos was a key reason for the disappointment of St Anger. Despite all these positives, we shouldn't be too optimistic. There has been a lot of speculation that this album would be a 'Neo-Master of Puppets.'
