In flames, might be best thing for it.
Advantages: Some accomplished bits. Disadvantages: Screaming and samey drum beats.
In Flames - Come Clarity
Yet another of my 14 year old (next months) son's offerings which he insists 'You must listen to this dad'. This is by no means my longest review as I am not going to 'fill' when I have not much to say.
Wikipedia tell me that these are a Swedish melodic death metal band.....not a good start, however, being am open minded dad I thought I should give them a a go. Though I do fail to see how Death Metal can be melodic, ho, ... ...5. Scream 6. Come Clarity 7. Vacuum 8. Pacing Death's Trail 9. Crawl Through Knives 10. Versus Terminus 11. Our Infinite Struggle 12. Vanishing Light 13. Your Bedtime Story Is Scaring Everyone I am not going to review every track as I have to say they are all quite similar. They are fast, drum based songs with some pretty fast and accomplished guitar work, both lead and bass. The vocals go from screaming to well, screaming. The intro drum work on ...

Wonderful Progressive Black Metal
Advantages: Holds your intrest, is otherwordly. Disadvantages: None
Formed back in 1991 and hailing from Norway, Enslaved have been at the forefront of this genre along with a few other bands. Though they started out as predominantly a Black Metal band from Norway, their progressive leanings kicked in around 1997 with their album ELD, and from this album on, you definitely hear other genres slipping into their music from using clean vocals, growls and screams, to clean guitars, unusual chord structures, melodic rhythms ... ...of.
I particularly love the fact that some of the lyrics are Norwegian, whichs makes for more of an Auditory experience than concentrating on the intellect of the lyrical content, which, what I can understand, is very well written. this album was released in 2004 and is their 8th full length studio album.
Here is a quick run down on what to expect from each song:
Intro: Green Reflection" – 0:51 A visceral introduction... a feeling of floating ...

Hello Rockview / Losing Streak
Advantages: Great melodies, catchy lyrics Disadvantages: none!
...1996 on Capitol Records, and Hello Rockview followed two years later. They were re-released as a double album in 2000. Later full length albums by the band are Borders and Boundaries (2000), Anthem (2003) and In with the out crowd (2006). Hello Rockview is more 'mainstream' Less Than Jake, being classic punky ska, while songs on Losing Streak put heavier emphasis on a ska style horn section. The fact that its almost a 'buy one get one free' with ... ...16. Lockdown

Too twee for me from the puffin metal kings
Advantages: One or two decent folk melodies Disadvantages: Too twee, nothing original
Ragnarok is Tyr's 3rd album, released in 2006 on Napalm Records having moved away from their previous deal with the small Faroese record label Tutl.
There were good and bad aspects of Tyr's 2003 album Eric the Red but their 2006 follow up Ragnarok certainly wasn''t put together in a hurry and the band had plenty of time to focus on the good aspects.
Perhaps the things that they found good and the things that I found good are different because I ... ...Eric The Red, what it has done is taken the poppy theme of Eric The Red which seems even tamer than their Proclaimers type vocals previously used.
The lyrics in Faroese are incomprehendible to the non-speaking majority and are a bit too songbirdish and twee for my liking. The band particularly seem to boast of eclectic tracks but there's very little to seperate the various styles used on this album and I personally find that it gets a bit tedious ...

Thunder - Not Dead Yet!
Advantages: Some songs as good as anything Thunder have ever done Disadvantages: Not available really cheaply, yet.
...Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton. Robert Johnson supposedly died after being poisoned and there is a legend that says he sold his soul to the devil in return for being able to play the guitar better. Regardless of whether this is true, it is his blues roots that give a clue towards the sound of this album.
His story is told in the opening and title track, “Robert Johnson’s Tombstone”. A gentle opening soon gives way into a stomping mid-tempo rock ... ...a Thunder trademark over the last two decades, although this does perhaps have more of a nod towards blues-rock than the rock-pop sound fans might be used to; maybe edging towards the more blues influenced sound of Luke Morley’s solo album, “El Gringo Retro”.
“Dirty Dream” is perhaps a little closer towards the Thunder sound, being a little more up-tempo and a little more towards the pop-rock side of things. Lyrically, this has a nod towards Whitesnake ...
